Do Bush's rhetoric and plans to attack Iran violate international law?
Edited on Mon May-01-06 09:20 PM by bigtree
Is all of Bush's nuclear saber-rattling against Iran illegal in the face of no UN conclusion as to Iraq's intention to develop a weapon? If Iran is, in fact is operating within the law, even if sanctions were to be imposed for non-disclosure, where do they go to protest the obvious illegal provocation by the U.S., including the reported infiltration of Iraq by our military forces, and the establishment of regime-change offices from D.C. to Dubai?

Iran hits out at ‘dangerous’ US

{snip}

In the letter to Mr Annan, Iran’s ambassador to the UN criticised US President George W Bush, who has refused to rule out even a nuclear strike on Iranian targets.

US rhetoric amounted to “illegitimate and open threats to use force against the Islamic Republic of Iran,” the letter said.

“These are in obvious contravention of international rules and the principles of the United Nations.”

The letter referred specifically to a report in the New Yorker by journalist Seymour Hersh, which suggested US military planners were considering a “bunker-busting” nuclear strike.

One U.S. or allied missile lobbed into Iran and they will be able to justify all of their president's paranoid speech in defense of the integrity of his country's borders from outside attack.

1. Not only International law but unless he gets Congressional
approval he'll be (once again, *sigh*) violating the Constitution.

2. But, but, but...
...they authorized his use of force. :eyes:

Or some other lame BS that they'll drag out of the recycle bin.

4. While I understand what you are saying and I know
that nothing will happen to him, never the less he will be in violation of the Constitution. The Iraqi resolution has nothing to do with Iran.

3. IMO, Iran has a right to be afraid of the US with this madman allowed
to make laws and continue unjustified wars, with a lot of support.

7. Wow, bigtree. I just wish this prez knew how to
stand and deliver - - something of value. He's never done that, has he?
That quote is telling. I guess it depends on what side you're on.
