Loyalty Day, 2006
A Proclamation by the President of the United States of America

Our Nation is blessed and bound together by a creed of freedom and equality that is entrusted to all Americans. Preserving the ideals of our founding requires the service and sacrifice of every generation, and on Loyalty Day, we celebrate the gift of liberty and remember our own obligation to this great Nation.

... The Congress, by Public Law 85-529, as amended, has designated May 1 of each year as "Loyalty Day." I ask all Americans to join me in this day of celebration and in reaffirming our allegiance to our Nation.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, GEORGE W. BUSH, President of the United States of America, do hereby proclaim May 1, 2006, as Loyalty Day. I call upon all the people of the United States to join in support of this national observance, and to display the flag of the United States on Loyalty Day.

1. Fuck You George.
How dare you use such words when you choose to mock the Constitution on a daily basis and completely disregard the founding of this country. How dare you.

than a democracy. You see, Georgie ... only fascist governments tell people to wave the flag and proclaim their loyalty to the nation. :eyes: :grr:

13. It's been Loyalty Day since 1958 -- Wikipedia entry:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Loyalty_Day

Loyalty Day is observed on May 1 in the United States. It is a day set aside for the reaffirmation of loyalty to the United States and for the recognition of the heritage of American freedom.

The holiday was first celebrated in the 1920s as Americanization Day, and was intended to serve as a counterweight to May Day, which was celebrated as a Communist holiday.

Loyalty Day is celebrated with parades and ceremonies in communities across the United States, although many people in the United States remain unaware of it. Although a legal holiday, it is not a federal holiday.

It was made an official holiday by the U.S. Congress on July 18, 1958 (Public Law 85-529). It was first proclaimed by President Dwight D. Eisenhower on July 15, 1958.

14. "Loyalty Day"???? Oh, puleeze!
Don't you mean "March In Lockstep Day" George? My brand of loyalty is not something you'd like, because my brand of loyalty involves, among other things, questioning you and your Cabal on the things you do, and on your hell-bent-for-destruction policies. George, fuck you and your fucking "Loyalty Day." :grr:

15. this is a joke, right? Right?
how Orwellian of him, if it's not..... Loyalty Day, what the F@#k is that? And loyal to whom? Maybe he meant "royalty" day, as in he thinks he's royal-you know, divine right of kings. God, some days I don't know if I'm in the old Soviet or lockstepping in Germany.
