weighing in on current events
1. immigration is a wedge issue. it is this election cycle's version of gay marriage. Today was great and inspirational and right, but this issue is already dividing DUers. Imagine how easy it will be for the repuke's to use it to get jane and joe six pack all riled up. It is related to, but insignificant compared to problems like Iraq, health care, the deficit, the near evisceration of the Constitution, median wage erosion, institutionalized vote fraud, etc.

2. Colbert went in the lion's den and fearlessly told the lions that they are all pussies. They didn't like it. What did you expect? A sudden attack of conscience by the salesmen for the ruling elite? It is their job to feed us shit and tell us it's filet mignon. Especially when it's them that is shit. No one in the media is any better or any worse today than they were yesterday.

"The illusion of freedom will continue as long as it's profitable to continue the illusion. At the point where the illusion becomes too expensive to maintain, they will just take down the scenery, they will pull back the curtains, they will move the tables and chairs out of the way, and you will see the brick wall at the back of the theatre." (Frank Zappa)

Everyone in the media, the bad guys obviously, but the good guys too, serves at the pleasure of the ruling elite. The corporate masters can pull the plug on anyone anytime. We get just as much freedom as those in power believe the status quo can bear. The "illusion of freedom" is the carrot that keeps us pulling their wagon. What is disconcerting is that they no longer seem to believe that it much matters.
