Actually they have reason to be smug

they have enacted the most disastrous agenda in AMerican history, have raped the treasury to the tune of trillions of dollars, have nearly bankrupted the country for the foreseeable future, have installed themselves and their sponsors in control of vast amounts of oil, have erased the parts of the Constitution that threaten their ability to be dictators . . . etc.

And a full one-third of the country still just loves what they are doing. Diebold and PR campaigns will make that 33% look more like 45% by election day and that's close enough to steal.

Meanwhile, we sit here at our computers, bashing one another about a tempest in the immigration teapot, the corrupt corporate media's response to a comedian's talk at an inside-the-beltway costume ball, one "Democratic" candidate versus another . . .

I absolutely refuse to get into the immigration dispute anymore. It's all a grand distraction from the truly frightening headlong run towards WWIII BushCo is making. Is anybody in this country paying attention? Or are 90% of Americans going to be caught out by el pResidente appearing on their magical boob tubes one night soon, announcing that we've just begun bombing Iran??

and fight Democrats like madmen. It could be probable some of the most childish squabbling you're seeing isn't exactly "Democrat against Democrat!" Division keeps people from focusing on the more important problems, as you point out. That goal would be a MEpublican goal.
