Hey!! Check out the "Thank You Steve Bridges" Site (the Bush Impersonator)
Edited on Tue May-02-06 12:31 AM by TexasLawyer

oh-- wait a minute-- there ISN'T ONE! ---My bad!

But Steve Bridges was so "uproarious!!", he "stole the show!!," he "had all the best lines!!," he had us all "seeing double!!" (ha ha ha!), his "earthy chuckle" was so Bush-like!, and he was the newest, funniest "Bush twin!!!"

Why no "thank you" site for this guy? Well, maybe, for starters, because what he said did not STRIKE A NERVE like Stephen Colbert's address did. We haven't waited for five years for a comedian like Mr. Bridges to stand side-by-side with Bush and act like his clone. We especially have not waited five years to listen to a phony and not-too-funny Bush inner monologue.

But what we HAVE waited for for five years is someone--anyone-- to call out these thieves and liars and their accomplices in the mainstream press. And we HAVE waited for a special night like this last Saturday, when they would all be together in one room, as a captive audience, getting their crimes served up raw with the cameras rolling.

That's why, Mr. Colbert, a million people will be thanking you in their own words. And that's precisely the same reason why the main stream press has to cover up what you did and said. You struck a nerve and we all know it!

The end.

PS: In fairness I did find a thank you to Mr. Bridges, but it was not for his performance at the Correspondents' dinner. LOL

Dear Steve, Thank you for the great routine you did in Hilton Head for the Southern Textile Association's annual meeting last week. Your sense of humor and extraordinary impressions were enjoyed by everyone. Your message of "Listen to the right voices" tied in perfectly with the theme of the meeting and the other speakers. I hope to get the opportunity to hear you in the future. Sincerely,

Daniel E. Nation, President
Parkdale-Magnolia-Summit

2. Just what the world needed ...
... two George Bushes. Because even God Almighty couldn't cram that much STUPIDITY into just ONE HEAD.

5. For purposes of press coverage,
I understand why they used the pictures of Bush and his clone. It is visually striking.

But in the write-up, I see no legitimate reason for minimizing the role played by Stephen Colbert in the event, or, in the case of the NYT, striking out any reference whatsoever to Mr. C.

7. Yes, once people stop discussing Stephen Colbert's performance...
...they will go back to giving Jeff Bridges and his impersonation the lasting fame it deserves. In fact, years from now, people will be remembering this Bridges performance, long after Stephen Colbert's becomes but a distant memory.

Jeff Bridges, your name will live forever in our memories for your amazing performance at the White House Correspondents Dinner even more than for your starring role in that 20,000-leagues-under-the-submarine show of yours. Oh, and by the way--how do you stay so young? :patriot:

11. Yeah, Jon Stewart was
so funny last night when he showed the picture of the Chimperor and his buddy, then worried about GW asexually reproducing and generating an entire clonal "busharmy".

OOOh, that could give a person nightmares!

13. that was my worry too -- what if they start breeding?

It could be like the Clone Wars, a la George Lucas ... except that 10,000 Dubyas all hiding and trying to get other people to fight for them, would make the "Busharmy" less fearsome than the one in the movie.

He's no Jango Fett!

I'm still laughing over the "asexual reproduction" jibe. It would pretty well have to be, because even if he were the last man on earth ...
(Dubya is such an egotist that a clone-partner would suit him just fine!)

12. Steve Bridges has developed a routine to work with ANYONE
Edited on Tue May-02-06 12:34 PM by Lisa
He will customize a tape so that the most boring or dictatorial CEO comes across as funny (no kidding, you can order one from his website, and they will write a script and shoot it in a fake WH press room so that your guy can read his bits, and it'll play at a corporate event).

So it's not surprising that Bridges could get up there and not freak out when Bush started snickering (as he did at the dress rehearsal) or flubbed his lines. He's had a lot of experience (he's even had to put a Santa Claus suit on over the Bush makeup and costume, for a gig -- I found the photos on the web but have lost the URL).

I notice that Bridges, though, seems to see the writing on the wall ... he probably knows that tying his career to Bush isn't a good idea, not with 32% popularity ratings. And it's not just a matter of losing gigs once the guy's out of office ... he's branched into 2 other characters ("The Governator", and Bill Clinton). Must be worth his while, because it costs thousands of dollars (according to his publicity info) to develop the prosthetic makeup -- and for an EX president! Is it possible that his Bush character isn't as popular as Clinton is, even after leaving office?

14. Odd.
no one at work has asked for my DVD of this Bush impersonator. But we're making copies like crazy of the Colbert DVD.
I'm guessing the Colbert speech will out distance even the chubby dancing guy in the next month as the most played clip from the internet.
