If Alito has such serious memory problems, how can he sit on the court?
He can't remember belonging to a controversial organization in college.

He can't remember his recusal pledges.

He can't seem to remember a fucking thing of importance, unless it benefits him personal.

Is he already going senile? How long until he can't remember his own name?

How is such a young man with such a feeble mind be entrusted to a life-long position?

Unless, of course...he is lying through his teeth.

His nickname is well-deserved...

2. I am older than that miserable putz
...and I remember WAY more about my college years than he has apparently forgotten.

And I had a better time in school than he did, by his accounts....

7. I agree, memory problems, lack of judgment, or he's a lying bigot.
I think that, even if he legitimately does not know anything about the organization that he listed as his resume, this shows poor judgment to be a member and list the organization.

So it's either poor memory, poor judgment and lack of knowledge, or he's a bigot and he's lying.

I don't see how he can be competent or appropriate for the position in any of these circumstances.

8. If he really had nothing do with CAP, then why did he put it on the app?
Edited on Wed Jan-11-06 12:47 PM by Atman
That is the one that is the most damning. So he either was lying on his application to get a job under Reagan, or he is lying now. Either way, HE IS LYING. The man has purjured himself before the committee.

So they'll all vote to confirm. 'Cept Ted, I'd guess!

11. There is no good explanation for this, so he doesn't recall...
He really is not measuring up and needs a better answer.

I agree that if he really had no connection to this organization then at the very least it's the padding of a thin resume.

I'm glad Ted is going to stay on this.

My gutt feeling is that Alito is actually a bigot - because you don't associate yourself with an organization like this unless you are proud of the association. Even if he wasn't particularly active, he paid dues, which helps fund their activities. I think he stuck this organization on his resume because he felt he was applying for a job with likeminded people.

He is in a box on this and Ted doesn't seem ready to let it go - which is good. I think this might be the one thing that could bring down the nomination.

9. And Another Thing
His ability to think quickly on his feet, and provide cogent and clear responses to simple questions is really pretty poor. I don't think this guy is bright enough to be on the SCOTUS.

10. Good point
For some reason he can't remember anything that would make him look like the racist ultra right wing toady that he is.

Someone should ask him if maybe he had a double that joined CAP and wrote it down on his application, because he doesn't recall it.
