Listening to Frist today, it appears the $100 in gas WAS A LIE ANYWAY. |
|
No one was getting any rebate. No one was getting any check for $100. Their lame-assed plan, if I heard Frist correctly (which I am sure I did), was to enact a "gas tax holiday" for a couple of months during the peak summer driving season, which they calculated would have saved the average driver about $100.
That is, of course, if the oil companies and/or gas stations actually lowered their prices by a similar amount, for which there apparently was no provision in the law.
So once again, the republicans were simply trying to scam America. Because they think we're all as fucking stupid as their remaining 32% (read: 22%) support base.

1. Pretty sure the gas tax holiday idea was the Dem plan. The pukes came |
|
up with the idea of borrowing a hundred bucks and giving it to us.

3. Well, I heard Sosobad address it to him, and he didn't refute it |
|
She said the democrats wanted to give $500, without mentioning how. But she specifically asked Frist how they could have miscalculated the reaction the republican's "tax holiday."

2. And those bashful buckeroos say they don't pay attention to polls |
|
frist is changing his parties tune when the news indicated Americans thought the $100 rebate idea was fucked up bigtime. Incredibly hard to believe that frist just didn't check out a videotape and diagnose what the public response would be.

6. That's what I think, too. The idea really backfired on them. |
|
But it was such a wierd, dumb idea. Wierd! Like why would they even think that $100 would begin to help with this gas stuff. I'm not working and I'm paying out about $400 a month on gas - just 2 tanks a week. That is more than I pay for anything else - my house, my car, my insurance. It's my most expensive outlay right now.
The $100 was insulting enough. But then to think we would go for opeing the Alaska oil field for that was unbelievable.

4. The gas tax holiday is actually a very good idea. |
|
The revenue is to be made up by cutting tax breaks to oil companies.
Paints the republicans into a corner. Either they have to vote against a tax cut for civilians, or anger their oil overlords.
The only down side will be hearing them crow, "SEE?! TAX CUTS WORK!!" Small price to pay.

5. Nothing like ridicule to make them drop that hot potato. Frist is a joke. |

He's a spineless, wimp who didn't vote til he was in his late thirites. He only got elected in Tennessee because his family name is on everydamnthing. They are richer than the gods.
