How would you like to make $100/minute?

This man makes $100 a minute. I was reading one of the NYC newspapers on the way home from NYC and there was an article about Lee Raymond, CEO of ExxonMobil and it said that this guy makes $144,000 a day. That's $6k a day or about $100 minute. For the 5 minutes it took for me to fill up my gas tank with $35 worth of gas (Citgo - I always buy them when I can), this man made $500. Hell the man can take shit and make $1500 in that time frame.

I have no problem with people who have more money than me. I think I have a pretty decent job, but I know others who make more than me and those who make less. But there is something obscene about a man who makes $100/minute and yet has no problems gouging customers with gasoline at $3.25/gallon.

There is a place in hell for those committing crimes of Greed & Gluttony. I hope Lee Raymond enjoys his eternity there.

BTW, $6k/hour and he can't even spend the money needed to fix those damn teeth!

5. I know... and it takes the joy out of the jokes...
but that's why a thick skin and a well honed sense of gallows humor is essential to maintain one's mental health in these times.

btw, that guy's skin must be REALLY thick to keep all that pudding in there...

4. Maybe he could go to Mexico for liposuction for that neck problem.
He looks especially glutonous. :)

You're right. It is OBSCENE and it is a shame that preserving his billions is a higher priority for the Bush Administration than the well-being of all Americans.

7. You know, I wanted to figure out what I made a minute
Mind you - the $100/day isn't based on a 40 hour work week but every single minute of the day and every day of the year. So even when the guy is sleeping he makes $48k.

So I figured out what I made a minute - it wasn't even close to being a dime a minute

15. is that 27/min per work week or week total
if Fat Bastard was paid on just the 40 hour work week he'd be making $300/min not $100min.

I figured mine out to the full week, not the work week and it was pathetically sad what I made per minute compared to Fat Bastard

9. If his salary is deserved as they claim it is....
....He's the smartest Godammed human on the planet.
He must make Einstein look like a moran.
He must have managerial skills of unparalleled equal.

This man would be able to solve our energy problems, organize the country to end poverty, hunger, disease, and balance the budget....all while doing the NYT crossword.

so how come all he does is sell oil?

12. it's just too easy to make fun of a face like that, but wth...
His chin looks like a mudslide.

On the other hand, if he were the head of America's Second Harvest or Habitat for Humanity or something, I'd find it pretty easy to think of him as someone who was more concerned with a satisfying inner life than with outward appearances. But he's not a nice guy, so Jabba the Hutt's evil twin he is.

16. Yeah but with all the money he is making he could do something about it
I mean, what good is making $100/min if you're dead of a heart attack because of poor health.

The guy makes $6000/hour and could easily afford just from one hour of work:

A personal trainer, a personal chef who cooks healthy foods and a fricking dentist to fix those damn teeth.

19. The Long Barbeque
How many men ever went to a barbecue and would let one man take off the table what's intended for 9/10th of the people to eat? The only way to be able to feed the balance of the people is to make that man come back and bring back some of that grub that he ain't got no business with!

Now we got a barbecue. We have been praying to the Almighty to send us to a feast. We have knelt on our knees morning and nighttime. The Lord has answered the prayer. He has called the barbecue. "Come to my feast," He said to 125 million American people. But Morgan and Rockefeller and Mellon and Baruch have walked up and took 85 percent of the victuals off the table!

Now, how are you going to feed the balance of the people? What's Morgan and Baruch and Rockefeller and Mellon going to do with all that grub? They can't eat it, they can't wear the clothes, they can't live in the houses.

Giv'em a yacht! Giv'em a Palace! Send 'em to Reno and give them a new wife when they want it, if that's what they want. But when they've got everything on God's loving earth that they can eat and they can wear and they can live in, and all that their children can live in and wear and eat, and all of their children's children can use, then we've got to call Mr. Morgan and Mr. Mellon an Mr. Rockefeller back and say, come back here, put that stuff back on this table here that you took away from here that you don't need. Leave something else for the American people to consume. And that's the program.

Standard work day is 440 minutes long. 480 if you don't get paid breaks.

I would imagine a high-up fuckee-fuck like Lee would get paid breaks...

22. We're in the money!
That kind of compensation should keep Mr. Raymond stocked with plenty of groceries in his larder. The company car will insulate him from paying the escalating fuel prices the rest of us a stuck with. Perhaps the windfall will motivate him to replace his poorly crafted hairpiece with expertly done hairplugs. Next time you are getting fuel in your vehicle, it would be interesting to do a calculation of how much you are contribution to the Lee Raymond retirement package.

23. Chump change compared to Coulter

I read recently that he/she/it gets $20,000 for a speaking engagement. Let's say that propaganda speaking engagement runs for forty minutes. Divide $20K by 40 minutes; that works out to a cool $500 bucks a minute.

Now do you see why he/she/it is so controversial? If it wasn't for being so provocative he/she/it wouldn't get in the papers so much and then the speaking engagements would not be so frequent. Then there would be no more $500 bucks a minute.

27. Conservatives justify this kind of excess by talking him up
as some sort of Titan of Industry, some champion. As though he were some great provider for all of society.

But, honestly, I can say with absolute certainty that this guy commits no more to society than anyone else on this forum.

He could disappear forever, tomorrow, without notice or warning, and no one would even notice.
