Has anyone else noticed on FR a real rise in liberal bashing?
It was already high enough, but somehow every thread I have read in the last few days has many posts either blaming liberals for everything wrong in the world and/or wishing death upon all liberals in lieu of substantive discussion.

Kids can't find Canada on a map? It's the fault of the liberals. Someone translated the Star Spangled Banner into Spanish? It's the liberals that allow this sort of thing to happen. Hippos are going extinct? It's okay as long as the liberals go extinct too. Problems within the CIA? It's because they're all liberals. Bush is on the "wrong" side of the immigration debate? He's too liberal.

The mind, it boggles.

So is it that there are more trolls over there, or is this the last bastion of psychological resistance to the realization that the Republicans have controlled the entire government for 6 years and the country is more of a mess now than ever?

1. It's a mental breakdown
They know whose fault it, but they choose to blame people who have no control to make themselves feel better.

2. They are angry, but don't want to place the blame where it lies
that is, in the laps of the GOP.

3. I think they fear loss of power more than anything now
They realize that their Republican leaders are in trouble from the Abramoff scandals to the Scooter Libby fiasco. Of course, there's the guerrilla war in Iraq, the Abu Ghraib torture scandals, the NSA spying, and the outing of CIA agent Valerie Plame.

They will parrot out arguments like they're being persecuted by liberals and leftists of all stripes, but more knowledgeable conservatives would admit, at least to themselves in the darkest corners of their minds, that they have been fooled.

20. No kidding. It must terrify them, knowing that so many of their
little tin gods are facing justice while they still hold the reins of power, and KNOW that it will only get worse if they lose that power.

4. Soooo don't go to freakrepublic. It makes as much sense as watching rush
or listening to oreally or shopping at walmart.

If you don't do it, you lessen their impact by your mass of cells.

It's bad for you to be around that toxic sludge. You learn nothing and merely contaminate yourself with their illness and fetid sewage.

30. Ain't that the truth? Once in a great while I have to go into Wal-Mart
I hold my nose and tip toe in and out as fast as my COPD body can make it. Why would one watch Rush or go see what the freepers are saying, when its the same thing over & over again & again. Somethings never change?

5. As long as it's verbal and not with physical blunt instruments
it's all good. Kinda shows we're getting to them, doesn't it, like they know they're wrong? Closed minds often have to be pried open, and they cry out in pain when the process starts.

Keeps it simple for all things out of line with their present thought to demonize while remaining good and pure. IOW, The Devil made him/her/me do it.

10. That's the I've got nothing
left factor. When all the lies and propaganda become obvious, you can only bash. Liberals were right, liberals were the Fiscal responsible party, liberals didn't lie us into an unnecessary war for Oil Profit, What's left? Blindly striking out at anything no matter how irrational. Like a spoiled brat child who finally has some control applied, they have a fit, the freepers are now having a fit, soon they will start to grow up and realize the problem is them, OR NOT!

thrived on scapegoating so that their Kool-Aid drinkers wouldn't put the blame on them for everything they did wrong and every stupidity they performed. This is the same thing.

21. It is called desperation. I visit FR from time to time just to get
their take on certain issues. I have noticed over the last few months that most of the moderate voices that used to provide a little wisdom seem to have disappeared. If they are still around, they keep pretty quiet to keep from getting trashed. It seems that the only ones left are the extreme right wingers who drink the undiluted koolaid. Even so, there is quite a bit of Bush bashing over there on certain topics these days. They aren't happy about the way things are going, but, of course, it isn't Dubya's fault.

25. The sane(er) freepers have been leaving in droves.
And what is left isn't even 'backwash' now;
it's the greasy film that floats on the backwash.

And yes, it's about psychological resistance to REALITY.
They have to maintain an ASTOUNDING level of cognitive dissonance
to pretend that B*sh is anything but a traitorous incompetent,
and that just naturally takes a heavy toll on their psyches.

27. 5 Stages of Grief - Denial, Anger, Bargaining, Depression, Acceptance
after 6 long years, maybe it's finally sinking in to them that they've been sold out to the corporate interests and that all those "conservative" policies didn't do a damn thing for them.

Tax cuts? yup, and high oil prices ate that away years ago, along with higher property taxes to pay for everything else

Smaller Gov't? square that with Pharma welfare and higher prices to your grandmother for the pills she needs to live

all they have left. All they can do is sit there and curse liberals for supposedly doing what Bush has done for the last 5 1/2 years, ruin America.
