Will we be able to restore America without violence breaking out? |
|
I want to be optimistic, but I don't see what's going to prevent the American Nazi Party from stealing 2006 just like 2000 and 2004. Especially since they have too much at stake this time, they will do whatever it takes to win, even if it means gunning down registered Dems at the polls. I hope to God we can restore pre-Bush America without bloodshed, but do you realistically think there is any way to break the iron fist that the GOP rules America with, short of physically dragging them out of the White House?

1. All we really have to do is win an election |

With a tamper-proof margin.

8. Assuming tampering takes place, there may not be such a margin |
|
in terms of vote counting. In two national elections they have pushed the idea that the exit polls get it wrong.
However, I suspect your are right in that an overwhelming vote by opponents of the Tory-publicans would be self-evident and it would probably result in street demonstrations similar to those we have seen in various post-Soviet satellites.

that "conservatives" will run and hide and surrender if they thought they were going to get their asses kicked. I'm all for a civil war. They hate the constitution. They have no concept of constitutional liberty. They do not deserve constitutional liberty. If they want to shed their blood to fuck with my constitution so be it, but I sincerely believe that if push comes to shove, they will cower away.

They don't expect us to fight back, they have their base so convinced that we on the left possess neither the courage or the will to fight. We will show them the error of that way of thinking, we will resist, we will fight, we will not retreat, and we will win.

The guy who knows military action is the last resort. The guy who realizes if you lie you have to spend a lot of time remembering things. And yeah, the guy who actually was elected. It really must suck to high heaven being a "conservative."

of a fanatical 30% of the population. 30% is a huge number of people and it is a group that has and will resort to bloodshed without qualm. Many Republicans would accept (maybe even privately hope for) losing in the fall elections. Bush's Backwash Bastards won't. I think there will be violence, and a lot of it...

11. I Have Decided I WILL Guarantee My Vote is Counted. |
|
Edited on Tue May-02-06 01:53 PM by Frustratedlady
I am going to request an absentee ballot, photograph it before I mail it, and send it via certified mail with a signed receipt (even though the post office is only a couple blocks from the courthouse). Do I have all my bases covered?
I'm not afraid my vote won't be counted in my town or by my people, but I decided to do it anyway, as I'm sure the RNC will be even ornerier this time around and it will send a message to the board.
Those declining polls have to have the RNC scared enough that they will pull anything. They can "lose" my ballot, but I will have proof it should be present and accounted for.

they will give up no matter what. As for the insane 33%, they actually are. I recently discontinued participation in one of my truck club political forums when the debate started injecting statements concerning, "the thinning of the herd". I got it extra tough. My oldest brother is one of them. Brother against brother. Scary. Thanks. quickesst

impeachment resolutions now pending in illinois, california and vermont under jefferson's rule 603. this is the last avenue for peaceful restoration of our democracy, imho. 10 minutes after that succeeds, we need to go out into the streets and take out those voting machines with our baseball bats. if this is government by the people, i will eat my big fat hat.

24. I think the only way there will be violence... |
|
is if people are somehow deprived of distraction or if they are put in a position where they are unable to continue in their current cycle.
This sounds unlikely but is actually easier to imagine than one might think.
First I will forward my supposition which is as follows.
People tend toward following the status quo, no matter how tragic, unless they are incapable of doing so.
I think the current approval rate represents those who have the following lifestyle.
Get up, go to work, come home, watch TV, sleep, repeat.
Now there are variations, children and so forth, but their lives basically follow that template.
Of the 70% or so that aren't pleased with Bush about 10% or so are for moral reasons, while the other 60%, I think, are because the above cycle has become disrupted in some way. Maybe they can't afford cable TV or don't have a job or something like that.
I think that if 60% or more of people have more of a disruption in their lives and/or those disruptions get worse we will have violence.
