A quick tutorial for the Colbert-impaired MSM on what's funny.
FUNNY: "...that means 68% of the people approve of the job the president ISN'T doing."

NOT FUNNY: BANGING THE WAR DRUM HARD AND LOUD UNTIL 100,000 IRAQIS ARE DEAD, AND COUNTING, OVER 2,000 US TROOPS ARE DEAD, AND COUNTING, 10,000 US TROOPS ARE WOUNDED, AND COUNTING, AND A NATION IS TORN APART--ALL ON FALSE PRETENSES

FUNNY: "...and we all know reality has a liberal bias."

Hope this helps.

4. Funny: Being so thrilled to be with Dubya that asking someone to pinch...
...you is insufficient so you ask someone to shoot you in the face instead.

11. His "spell checkers" insult was LOL! My ribs still ache.
I'm still chuckling to myself today over his barbs.

They know it was funny as hell- that is why they wont show it- they know over 60% plus of viewers would find it funny and TRUE.

15. Is it possible?
Is it possible that Stephen was intentionally being seriously honest more so than he was trying to be funny? Especially pertaining to the Chimp's photo ops standing on the deck of the aircraft carrier, and the 9/11 rubble. I not only think Colbert's a genius who was saying what he honestly thinks, but he had the guts to do it to their face.
