LUCASVILLE, Ohio -- A man who killed two people and wounded another during a string of robberies to get money for drugs 22 years ago was executed by the state Tuesday morning, following a delay of more than an hour, prison officials said.
<snip>
The execution was set to begin at 10 a.m. It was the longest delay since the state resumed executions in 1999, state prisons spokeswoman Andrea Dean said.

Clark said, "These don't work" and "They're not working" as the team tried to start the injection.

After 25 minutes of trying to find a vein, a curtain separating the death house from witnesses was pulled shut. Clark could be heard moaning and groaning from behind the curtain. When the curtain reopened at 11:17 a.m., Clark had two shunts in his arm.

"This has never happened," prisons spokeswoman Andrea Dean said of the delay.

1. Yeah, Americans are pro-life once you reach the age of execution.
Then you can be killed.

2. I don't regard the United States a civilized country
as long as it still has the death penalty. This shit has to stop.

Urgent Action Needed: Call Governor Taft & The Cincinnati Enquirer Now!

Sr. Alice and Eunice who are in Lucasville have reported that the State of Ohio tried to execute Joseph Clark for nearly an hour and a half without effect. They repeatedly failed to find a vein in which to administer the injection. This account was confirmed by The Columbus Dispatch and reported by the Associated Press: http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/ap/nation/3834655.html

“After 25 minutes of trying to find a vein, a curtain was pulled over the window separating witnesses from the area where the execution was to take place. Clark was heard moaning and groaning and when the curtain was reopened he had two shunts in his arm.”
Finally, at 11:26 Joseph Clark was executed.

Please call Governor Taft and voice your concern with this inhumanity, this torture. Call Governor Taft at 614-466-3555

Contact the Cincinnati Enquirer and let them know your concern:
They can be reached at 513-721-2700
