Richard(Gag)Perle: Iraqis are freer today & we are safer-Relax & enjoy it.
Relax, Celebrate Victory

By Richard Perle
Posted: Friday, May 2, 2003

From start to finish, President Bush has led the United States and its coalition partners to the most important military victory since World War II. And like the allied victory over the axis powers, the liberation of Iraq is more than the end of a brutal dictatorship: It is the foundation for a decent, humane government that will represent all the people of Iraq.

This was a war worth fighting. It ended quickly with few civilian casualties and with little damage to Iraq's cities, towns or infrastructure. It ended without the Arab world rising up against us, as the war's critics feared, without the quagmire they predicted, without the heavy losses in house-to-house fighting they warned us to expect. It was conducted with immense skill and selfless courage by men and women who will remain until Iraqis are safe, and who will return home as heroes.

.............

Iraqis are freer today and we are safer. Relax and enjoy it.

1. But Iraqis are less safe today, and we are less free
Even under Saddam, Iraqis didn't have to worry about their mosque getting blown up -- and Americans didn't have to worry about Big Brother snooping on what they did at the library. So there.

3. Wonder how many Iraqis would agree? Whenever the legislation meets
don't they ban traffic in Baghdad? How many are enjoying going out at night? How about letting their children out to play and enjoy the sunshine?

4. This is all part of their Mission Accomplished Again Again campaign.
Once again (third time I think) we are in the midst of a waggy blue finger carrier strumping freemon'n'moxy big ol' victory in eye-rock bullshit campaign. It is election cycle and once more they are simply going to pretend that its all good and everything is fine and peace is just breaking out all over Iraq.

Once again the compliant media will be a chorus of yea-sayers. Once again they are going to run the whole bullshit machine in high gear and hope that the shit spray from the reality fan over there is not too detectible through the media blitz.

Ah sheesh I am so tired of their bullshit, of their lies, of their endless preposterous vile criminal nonsense.

9. In serious need of editing, as follows:
From start to indefinite finish, * has led the United States and its co-partner into the biggest military blunder since Viet Nam. And unlike the allied victories in the past, the liberation of Iraq was solely for oil, with one brutal dictatorship replacing another brutal dictatorship, supported in the past by members of the current brutal dictatorship. It is the foundation for the continous flow of oil that will exploit its rightful owners, the people of Iraq.

This was a war worth fighting, al least for us chickenhawk neo-cons, who didn't bother to enlist. It hasn't ended yet, with continued civilian casualties and with major damage to Iraq's cities, towns or infrastructure. So far, the Arab world has not risen up against us (we are praying to God and Allah), but it will, while we are mired in the quagmire that others predicted, anticipating heavy losses in the continued fighting they warned us to expect. It was conducted with immense kills by men and women who will remain until Iraqis are safe(!?), and who will return home who knows when, probably in bodybags.

11. Interesting that he says this "was" a war and that victory has arrived.
Is this the new frame? The war has ended? A prelude to withdrawal, perhaps? Declare victory and come home (as heroes)? Funny how his bosses keep talking about the victory that will happen in the far-distant future.
