Looks like we are having a bit of a problem with voting in Cuyahoga Ohio
I'm watching the local news and they are reporting glitches all over the place. All absentee ballots need to be recounted by hand due to the scanners not working, some of the memory cards were bad and the machines weren't working until afternoon and a few other problems.

They are keeping at least one place open until 9 and they reported that the election committee is pretty pissed off at Diebold. I have no link, it is on my local news.

6. Plain Dealer site says "minor problems".
When machines weren't working, people were told to come back later. They are supposed to receive a paper ballot.

10. I voted in Ohio today and they had no problems
with the new machines in my precinct. I think the new machines are great, had no problem understanding how to vote, we even had a write-in Democratic candidate. It was simple just touch write-in then a keyboard appeared and I typed in the name. The machine had a typewritten
record of the vote, I checked it and all my votes were recorded accurately. In my opinion this is a far better system than the punch cards you won't have any questionable votes like hanging chads and there is a paper record of the votes cast. Would someone please explain just what the problem is with these machines?

16. Jeebus! Get your head out of the sand!
It is no problem at all for even a mediocre programmer to write a program to display one thing on the screen and the printed record, and an entirely different thing in the tabulator. Not saying that this did happen, only that it is entirely possible and that WE CAN NEVER KNOW FOR SURE. Even if your vote was cast as intended, it was stolen from you, no differently than if you had handed it to someone in person who marked it for you so that you couldn't see what s/he was doing.

Wake up! The voting machine company owns the results of this election as a trade secret! Why is that acceptable to you?

As computer security expert David Dill put it "It is not enough for elections to be accurate; we have to know that they are accurate, and we don't."

11. Well, ditch Diebold
They perform shoddy service with unreliable products.

There are other good reasons, of course, but those are good enough.

12. What are the odds?
I just can't get over that this is where the primary is being held between Kucinich and GOP supported Barbara Ferris....makes one wonder.....

It might have more to do with Blackwell getting himself elected though...

Those are what, 20, 30-year old tried and tested technology?
