The Christian Exodus Movement
The Christian Exodus Movement

(CBS 13) SACRAMENTO It's a big idea born from the sleepy rolling hills of Calaveras County. There, in the town of Valley Springs lives Cory Burnell who's plan is to move thousands of followers to South Carolina and establish a new Christian nation.

“Our mission is simply to reestablish constitutionally limited government founded upon Christian principles,” he says. Those principles, he says, are standard Christian articles of faith. He claims Christian Exodus is a simple voter mobilization project.

“We established a multi phase strategy that goes county by county. Back in 2004 we set that up,” he says.

The soft spoken Burnell acknowledges that even if he's able to take control of the state, the Federal Government might not make the changes he wants. In that case he has a backup plan and it’s a big one.

“Secession is such a bad word these days. Of course, in 1776 the colonies seceded from Britain and we call that independence -- a much more positive term," he says.

Burnell believes the federal Government is operating outside its powers set forth in the constitution, preventing states, and their people from openly embracing Christian beliefs. But a close look at the group's business card and you understand the type of government he's looking to create. It reads: "United we murder babies. Celebrate sodomy. Evolve from monkeys. It's time we separate!"

8. They should be set afloat offshore
(I was thinking on a boat, but an ice floe would work nicely.) If they don't want to be part of America, they can be like The Man Without a Country and just stay at sea. (Remember that movie?)

9. I hope they take
a lot of money with them. They will need a nest egg to hold them over until they find a job above minimum wage.

10. I'm so sorry for the good people of South Carolina
It would be nice to have all these people in one place so they couldn't pollute the whole country, but poor South Carolina

11. Oh please, please, go. I'm very sorry for South Carolina
but it's so much better for everybody if these people are all in one place. At least if they're isolated somewhere with most of their demands met, they'll perhaps be less inclined to try to impose nationwide theocracy on the rest of us.

Nothing like the truly tasteless and absurd to get the Messiah guffawing.

19. It's the absolute best thing that could happen to the USA politically.

Imagine if all the fundies moved to one state. They'd have control of 2 Senators, a handful of Reps
and whatever state government was left. The remaining 49 states would be populated by relatively
normal people...which would spell and end to RW rule.
