2. Yes and yes...
A funny cut-away shot to the WHCD audience, with sound of crickets.

3. he did do a show ...

and he stayed in character. He earnestly explained what a great time he had, how cool it was that he got to meet his hero the President -- and that the audience stayed politely quiet just to hear him speak. (Overlay the sound of crickets, noted by the previous poster!) And they were so supportive that they carried him out of the room afterwards, even though he wasn't quite ready to leave yet!

Priceless. I especially liked how he noted admiringly that the President has such soft hands ... "he must use gloves when he's clearing brush ... and lotion!"

6. Just in case you didn't know - Colbert will re-run tonight at 8:30 pm
right after The Daily Show on Comedy Central (natch!). Jon gave mega kudos to Steven's performance on Saturday night on TDS, too. Stewart said it was "ballsy-licious" and then ended with, "Oh, blee-e-e-e-e--ep!" (translation, "Oh, Shit-t-t-t-t!")

5. Rerun again at 7PM
Colbert said "They wanted to carry me on their shoulders they loved me so much. And I wasn't even done!"

8. Yes, and both he and Stewart gave inspired performances
last night.

Jon Stewart seemed energized by Colbert's success.
