Ending the WH Daily Breifings would be like telling THE PEOPLE - |
|
Edited on Tue May-02-06 07:59 PM by Skip Intro
"we don't have to tell you a goddamned thing. We don't answer to you. You'll sit the hell down and shut the hell up if you know what's good for you."
That's not a stretch. That's the regime telling the people they serve that they've decided they don't answer to them anymore.
Their distain for the people they serve couldn't be clearer.

I hope this doesn't come as a surprise to you. They've had this in-your-face, waddayagonna-do-about-it attitude since the first stolen election.

3. I have been away all day. Did they actually announce a |
|
cessation of televised briefings or are you speculating based on Bolten's statement?
Thanks

4. Given the lack of truthful substantive information that comes out |

of said briefings now it basically already comes to that.

He is definitely starting off on the wrong foot here. This little prick is pissing me off and he hasn't even been around an entire month yet. Who knows how obnoxious he will be when he has been around a while...

They get angry when anything they do is brought up that they do (ie. Colbert).
These people are sick and abusive--seriously.
I have known alcoholics and I know of alcoholism. We are like the offspring of alcoholic parents--Bush is the daddy and Laura codependent mother. In these families, there are secrets, denial, violence, verbal abuse, inappropriate behavior which nobody talks about...all of the symptoms are there.
I think we should all get to a CoDa meeting. Or start one here...
'My name is linazelle and I am part of a nation run by alcoholics...'

10. Not counting on it, but maybe, just maybe, |
|
some of the hand-fed journos would get out in the agencies and do some actual reporting. I've sometimes wondered why they didn't walk out on some of the more sillier sessions anyway.

12. End the televising of the briefings, or the briefings themselves? Bolten: |
|
Edited on Tue May-02-06 08:28 PM by Skip Intro
Bolten said it may be worth considering whether to end the daily televised press briefingswhere reporters and the press secretary frequently air disputes in front of the cameras, but he will leave that decision up to Snow. http://www.contracostatimes.com/mld/miamiherald/news/politics/14469853.htm?source=rss&channel=miamiherald_politics:shrug:

11. Has this ever happened before in any other admins, where they |
|
just snap the lid shut? Chills me to the bone...for some reason this makes me think of listening to the radio years back, the announcer says, "Idi Amin has sealed the borders". Just really spooky. You'd think they'd at least keep up the PRETENSE of having a dialogue with this nation ---

"I'm the commander -- see, I don't need to explain -- I do not need to explain why I say things. That's the interesting thing about being the president. Maybe somebody needs to explain to me why they say something, but I don't feel like I owe anybody an explanation." GW Bush

“I stand by this man because he stands for things. Not only for things, has he stood on things. Things like aircraft carriers and rubble and recently flooded city squares. And that sends a strong message, that no matter what happens to America, she will always rebound with the most powerfully staged photo ops in the world.” Steven Colbert

18. But they DON'T tell us a goddamned thing |
|
...and they DON'T answer to us as it is. So what good are they?
Except for Helen Thomas, the WH Daily Briefings are a dog and pony show. Everyone has a good time, the reporters rarely bother to get testy and just report what they're told to report, and we get no useful info. Each briefing is just further confirmation that the WH press corps is completely in thrall to a WH full of unabashed liars.
If we're paying for this daily boondoggle, I want my money back.
