what an idiot. He cant get it through his head that Colbert was not there to make "funny", he was there to make them uncomfortable and tell the truth to the lies and corruption. Sheesh, what a farking idiot he is.

9. even his defender from Salon didn't make his point strongly enough. |
|
he said Colbert was giving it to the press, true, but he DIDN'T respond to the obvious idiocy that SC bombed for the audience
Colbert's AUDIENCE was NOT in the room. it was you and ME and the rest of the citizens.
NOBODY dares mention that he stood there and cried out that the emperor has no clothes.
they just don't want to touch that
I loved the Scarborough smarm about how Leno brings him to TEARS or somesuch every night
now THAT's comedy, Joe
then, they played a clip of dumbo doing some shining trees, shining city, shining turd babble that was TOTALLY unfunny, as well as completely clumsily delivered. totally embarrassing, yet he said it was really funny
what a bunch of utter BS

I'm almost positive about that
no way he thinks Colbert is that funny.
if he did, he wouldn't have been so completely clueless as to his performance on Saturday
check the tape/rerun, etc.

|
what the heck were you watching? he didn;t like the speech at the dinner, it wasn't fun or self-effacing which is "what people like". he didn't get it why the reporters couldn't laugh, although the salon guy way trying to explain it.

yer probly right...coulda sworn he said Leno
anyway, I don't believe that lying sac of crap watches Colbert any more than I believe he didn't know a LOT more about the mysterious death of Lori Klausutis in his own office
and even if he does, he does not understand ONE SINGLE thing about what Colbert's doing, cause it's ANATHEMA to everything he's ever "stood" for
so there

3. Never Watch Joe... But I Must Say This Is A Surprise... |
|
Considering how most of the other media types were pretty disgusting!
I have so much more respect for Colbert now because it must have taken "big ones" to stand up there and let it hang out! I thought it was great. I kept the transcript just so I can go back and savor the flavor whenever I want to.
MSM sank to a new low on this one!!

away from him. I've seen him before and was impressed then, but to have him stand side by side, it was hard to tell one from the other.
I've seen some good imitations before, and that guy ranks way up there.

very good segment, but I totally can't stand the Wonkette wonkiness. The Salon guy was great though.
I loved that Joe totally loves The Colbert Report and races home every night to watch him!
Definitely a "man bites dog" experience from the tighty-righty msm :D

he watches Colbert as much as Bush does
if he DID, he woudln't have made the asinin comments he did about Colbert bombing before that audience
he was totally clueless about Colbert's intent, his delivery, his REAL audience

14. By definition, Colbert DID bomb in front of his live audience. |
|
That is, if they were expecting hilarity and wild applause and laughter.
I don't believe Colbert was surprised at the audience's lack of positive response.
But he sure went over large here, didn't he?
I will never forget it.
Way past brilliant.

17. I agree. He knew exactly how he was being received |
|
and it just wasn't as important as his having his say. He wanted the world out here to know he was drawing a line. Right in front of the president. One guy was going to say what millions are thinking -- all around the world. Colbert wasn't thinking about his career. Or his direct audience. He was thinking about what is right, his own conscience, and all of us who need a spokesman/woman.

28. maybe he'll go back down the rabbit hole |
|
where he disappeared after we were attacked on 9-11. Or, maybe his handlers will insist on only carefully vetted, staged appearances -- that don't appear staged. Maybe Bush's Hollywood guys (and he does have them) will even throw in a couple of benign "anti-Bush" questioning Americans....who are actually more Gannon type theatrics. Bush will be rehearsed ahead of time and the "questioners" won't dig in and pressure for real answers. And the gullible will be soothed. And that nasty Colbert will be a dim memory. Maybe there's a way to blame Clinton.

You explained it better than I could. The Joe segment basically addressed just "why he bombed"....which is a good thing :D That is, the audience expected Leno, and got political truthiness satire that just whooshed over their widdle war for oily heads

you apparently don't have a clue about just what a lowlife scumbag this guy is, or you wouldn't be so slavishly defending his idiotic point of view
and I'm not desperate, just heard wrong what he said, as I was trying to type and listen at the same time
