Mueller says he 'is bound to obey the administration'
Mueller will side with Bush, if Bush decides to override the Patriot Act.

Mueller has cast his fate. He has publicly announced that he chooses BushCo before America.

Mueller is now an official member of the BushCo Club for Traitors. It's always good to know where these slimeballs stand.

At the hearing yesterday, Feingold pressed FBI director Robert Mueller to give assurances that the bureau would comply with provisions in the Patriot Act and to tell Congress how agents are using the law to search homes and secretly seize papers.

Mueller said he saw no reason that the bureau couldn't share that information with Congress. But he also said that he was bound to obey the administration, and declined to promise that he would "go out there and fight" on behalf of Congress if Bush decided to override the Patriot Act's oversight provision and ordered the FBI not to brief Congress.

Feingold also said Bush's legal claims have cast a cloud over a host of rules and restrictions that Congress has passed, using its constitutional authority to regulate the executive branch of government.

''How can we know whether the government will comply with the new laws that we passed?" Mueller said. ''I'm not placing the blame on you, obviously, or your agents who work to protect this country every day, but how can we have any assurance that you or your agents have not received a secret directive from above requiring you to violate laws that we all think apply today?"

Mueller replied: "I can assure with you with regard to the FBI that our actions would be taken according to appropriate legal authorities."

8. "My loyalty is to Bush; not the Congress and not the country."
That's what it sounds like he is saying, so I agree with you, Rex.

2. Well, that shows you that it is just ridiculous to trust any part of the
American Government any longer. Most of American Government has been taken over by folks with dual citizenship anyway, so why should THEY care about what is best for the average American citizen?

3. yep, rather than watch out for the people who pay him
he'll swear allegiance to der chimpenfuehrer.

Amazing.

This will be duly noted when the war crimes charges are filed with the ICC. Mueller can serve his beloved king from a cell in the Hague. :grr:

6. I watched that rerun last night. You're right...sort of.
I listened to almost the whole hearing, and although Mueller was very hesitant, he didn't sound like he was 100% BushCo either. There was another question put to Mueller about releasing the results of an Inspector General's report to Congress, and Mueller said he could not see ANY reason not to do so.

I think we all have to remember what this admin response always is when anyone argues against them, and wait until we see what Mueller actually does, not what he promises or doesn't primise to do.

didn't Mueller put the clamp down on the BCCI investigation years ago? Or am I confusing him with someone else?

another loyalist who needs the boot.

9. I believe there's an error in one of the excerpted paragraphs
Not Your Error, but The Boston Globe's. I've already sent them feedback on this.

Feingold is mentioned in the third graph of your excerpt, and then Mueller appears to ask a question (which I believe must have been asked by Feingold) and then Mueller replies to what seems to have been his own question.

I'm waiting to see if The Boston Globe reads their feedback all that often. :)
