Kean Jr. Has Already Received $16,000 From Oil/Gas PACs. According to Kean Jr.’s just-released campaign finance reports, which cover the first three months of 2006, his campaign took in $16,000 from oil and gas industry PACs already in 2006 - $5,000 from Exxon Mobil, $10,000 from Valero and $1,000 from ConocoPhillips.

Kean Jr. Worked for British Petroleum. In 1996, Kean Jr. worked in Greece as a consultant to British Petroleum.

Kean Jr. Has At Least $100,000 In Oil/Gas Stock. According to his official financial disclosure forms, Kean Jr. owns at least $50,000 in Exxon Mobil stock and at least $50,000 in British Petroleum stock.

Kean Was No Show At Cheney Fundraiser. In March 2006, Tom Kean Jr. chose the road most traveled when rushing to attend a fundraiser with the Vice President. Cheney, whose approval ratings in New Jersey are appalling, left the fundraiser fifteen minutes before Junior – who said he was stuck in traffic – finally got there. Kean’s no-show prompted questions of his efforts to distance himself from Bush as the President’s numbers drag down GOP candidates. An unnamed campaign adviser to Kean Jr. said the state senator considered canceling the event but decided he needed the campaign cash. Bush has a 65 % disapproval rating in New Jersey.
