FNC & CNN "Most Trusted" By Americans

According to a "poll of more than 10,000 adults in 10 countries," the most trusted news brands globally are the BBC and CNN, Reuters reports.

"Americans who were asked to name their most trusted specific news sources plumped for Fox News (mentioned by 11 percent) and CNN (also 11 percent), with others some way behind. ABC, for example, was chosen by 4 percent, as was NBC."...

1. I just don't get how people believe faux news is for real.
Do they KNOW that it's biased and just not care, or do they tell themselves it's actually balanced?

2. I'd agree with both
CNN International is vastly more comprehensive than the watered down dreck we get on CNN.

3. So about 2 out of 10 Americans trust Faux and CNN
That's very encouraging news!

4. I was shaking my head until I really looked at the figures.
Only 26% out of 100% comprise the combined total of 1st, 2nd, and 3rd most-trusted news sites in this poll. Out of that, only 11% drink the FAUX Kool-Aid. So, my conclusion is that 11% out of 100% doth not a mandate make. That leaves 11% in CNN's camp (not much better, I'll admit), 4% in ABC's camp, and 74% "Other."

6. "Only 11% Name Fox or CNN As 'Most-Trusted' News Site in US Poll"

That's how an honest headline of that story would read. Entirely different meaning, isn't there?

Kinda points out the power of headlines to frame perceptions, and why I have a problem with the rule here that says LBN must repeat the headline verbatim. There's the danger that we're spreading propaganda messages to those who who see only the headline, who might believe it.

May I humbly suggest that LBN allow for a ten-word subtitle or comment in parenthases that follows.

Oh well, that's just my $.05

7. That's a MUCH more accurate headline.
However, I do see the need to leave the LBN headlines as they currently are, especially since the collection of them doesn't dominate the page, but are in a sideline. For interpretative headlines, I go to Buzzflash, where they do them brilliantly, and then again, they don't have a forum.

I do understand your point, but I think there is a danger of drinking our own particular brand of Kool-Aid if we get in the habit of editorializing everything on the site.

For myself, I like to see the headline just as it comes to see what kind of propaganda Big Brother is catapulting today. If someone comes to DU and focuses solely on the LBN headlines to the exclusion of all else, and then doesn't even click through to see any of the comments on any of the headlines, blogs probably aren't for for them in any case.

5. 11% + 11% + others some way behind%...
Adds up to a majority not trusting any MSM at all?

I think that'd be pretty accurate.
