Hannity today Beat the War Drums. Be assured of what's coming.
"What, you want to keep your head in the sand? Don't you understand that we were attacked on 9/11, and had no choice but to take out Iraq? Now we again face a great challenge. Can we let an American city get blown up, with hundreds of thousands of casualties? You are insane if you don't think our next strike must be to stop Iran."

OK, that's what he said today, in an amazing, eye-opening debate with Pat Buchanan - a neo-con faces off with a paleo-con, and a pox on both their houses, but Pat was forceful and, yes, unyielding in his opposition to the war (Iraq, for now), which he called the worst foreign policy disaster in this nation's history.

Bottom line? Hannity reads the Rove "talking points" more scrupulously than any other nutwing radio commentator. I don't normally listen to him, of course. I am glad I did today. We are going in before November, I am now convinced, no matter what the circumstances. Unless we mobilize, and fight during this election year, it is inevitable. The media will be of no help, so understand the challenge.

Put on your superhero costume, we have a job to do.

14. I'll bet your wrong
After all, there was no terror attack preceding the invasion of Iraq. Just a lot of horsepucky that either couldn't be verified or was refuted.

The thing to do is go there now. If these guys have something, we want to know what it is. Most experts believe Iran is five to ten years away from developing a nuclear weapon, assuming that is the Iranians' intention. So why is it urgent to attack now?

Is there some reason to think they will have a bomb ready to launch on New York or Los Angeles tomorrow? If so, let's have it.

These people lied to us once and are back to using the exact same pattern. They're lying. Again. If Iran is attacked on Monday, I want Bush in chains in The Hague on Tuesday.

16. "no terror attack preceding the invasion of Iraq." What was 9/11...
Edited on Wed May-03-06 07:17 PM by Junkdrawer
chopped liver?

Remember how Bush told Richard Clarke to link Iraq - no matter what.

Look, no terror attack, no draft. No draft and there's not enough troops to effect regime change.

Putting together a terror attack is not hard. Making it seem like Iran would do such a stupid thing - THAT is hard.

17. A terror attack that preceeded the invasion of Iraq by 18 months
Edited on Wed May-03-06 07:42 PM by Jack Rabbit
You are talking about something else: a staged event that would be immediately followed by an attack on Iran.

No new attack predeeded the invasion of Iraq. September 11 was the work of Osama bin Laden and al Qaida. That the neoconservatives pulled out their old plans to satisfy their wet dreams about invading Iraq and persuaded Bush to use the event as a pretext to for that end is all but a matter of record by now.

They're using the same MO here. Hannity is obviously on board by saying "We had no choice but to take out Iraq." These people are deluded. Very few people nowadays think Saddam had anything to do with the attacks and that "we" (Who? Bush and Hannity?) had a choice and did not choose wisely.

Anybody who doubts Bush and his fellow thugs lied three years ago would believe in the tooth fairy. That is why Bush is at 30% in the Gallup Poll just released a couple of hours ago. It is up to us to put the heat on him. He lied last time; we have no reason to think he's telling the truth now; if Iran is attack, then impeach the bastards, all of them.

19. "Osama bin Laden and al Qaida"...with a little help from his friends...
Edited on Wed May-03-06 07:54 PM by Junkdrawer
It took 18 months to get from 9/11 to Iraq last time because the government still had a lot of non-NeoCons in high places. That's changed. Clarke is gone. Rice is now Sec. of State. Bolton's at the UN. Goss is at CIA. The Pentagon has been purged.

But even with the "dream team" in place, if they try to attack Iran without a terror attack here, all HELL would break loose. I just can't see an Iran attack without a preceding terror attack.

Time will tell.

8. The depths of his idiocy are astounding
"Don't you realize we were attacked on 9/11", so we had to go attack someone who wasn't involved!

"Don't you realize that when we outed Valerie Plame we killed our chances to track whether Iran has made any nuke purchases so we have to drop a nuke of our own, just in case!"

Chickenhawk is right, the man has no sense of reality, the entire neo-con cabal has totally lost it, pretending that a nuclear first strike is a viable option.

9. The only thing that can stop it is if the military refuses
We can't stop it.

If the cic gives the orders, and the generals follow them, nothing can stop them.

Public outcry might pause them, but they need just stage another "attack" and that would shut everybody up long enough to get what they want.

Dammit.

"Don't you understand that we were attacked on 9/11, and had no choice but to take out Iraq?"

OK, so if someone punches me in the face, I have no choice but to go punch someone else who had nothing to do with it?

Quotes from when Clinton when committed troops to Bosnia:

"Explain to the mothers and fathers of American servicemen that may come home in body bags why their son or daughter have to give up their life?"
