I have a feeling that this embassy will never open |

or if it does, it won't stay there for long: http://www.theaustralian.news.com.au/story/0,20867,19019060-2703,00.htmlhttp://www.uruknet.info/?p=m23045&l=i&size=1&hd=0http://images.thetimes.co.uk/TGD/picture/0,,295185,00.jpgBuilding work at the 104-acre complex, known locally as 'George W's palace', is supposed to be secret, but it is impossible to disguise the cranes dominating the Baghdad skyline

6. Oh, it's going to happen all right. |
|
The "Embassy" happens to be the only construction/rebuilding project on schedule and on budget ($7772 million) in the entire country.
This will also serve as the base of CentCom for the Middle East.

14. Au contraire ... they are VERY effective in pillaging the Treasury. |
|
Just because they're not achieving what they claim they're doing doesn't mean they're not achieving what they're really trying to do: (1) decimate the laws and regulations that protect the public from predation by the wealthy, and (2) pillage the Treasury and but the public in debt to crony capitalists into the future as far as we can see. More and more, I look to see what they HAVE done to understand what their intentions are.

19. Exactly. Just like the "failed" business ventures of W. It's only a |
|
failure if you get caught holding the bag. Sell your stock and cash out at the right time, and walk away from the smoking ruins with millions in your pocket. Same plan for Iraq, just an order of magnitude or two higher.

7. Maybe this is a mini Dubai. |
|
Maybe they are practicing the lavish building projects that the Dubai financiers have put in. I can see it now. George W. will get a small beach-front location somewhere in Florida from his bro and then use the plan he practiced in Baghdad to put in his own community. Meanwhile this "palace" will be turned over to H*burton on a no-bid contract to run as a Snooper Mall.

11. What's really important is that it have a big, flat roof |
|
Today's helicopters are much bigger than the ones of the Viet Nam era. And with a big staff, the frantic evacuation will require a number of big helipads.
I hope they provided for that in the planning.

For just like "the fall of Saigon" in 1975, sooner rather than later, us wannabe USA Empire Builders will choose to leave ... um right after we are kicked out. :P
