He knew what was coming. He deserves death....
...I saw this in a thread earlier and thought to myself, every thinking American knows what is coming in Iran.Death from above,an endless war,and millions impoverished and in misery. And all this right soon.Who do we tell, what do we do,what will WE "deserve"????

2. It's this doomsday scenario
that's been running through me for far too long now. It's preternatural, I swear, but I am - and have been - convinced that Fuckface is already set on going after Iran - he has nothing to lose, plus he's mad as a hatter - and everyone is going to pay a horrible, horrible price.

Right now, we're ten minutes away from the Pentagon, fifteen minutes from the White House and the Capitol. My best good luck is that we'll be so quickly vaporized, we'll never see it coming.

I'm series.

3. Couple months ago I thought there was no way they would
start another war. After these last few weeks and especially all the "Booga Booga" warnings we have been getting today it seems like a foregon conclusion. WWIII Here we come.

8. I don't see it that way at all. MIHOP, LIHOP, whatever..
I would be a lot more worried, if I was you, if I was in Los Angeles or Las Vegas or Phoenix or, heaven forbid, San Francisco.

I don't believe anything huge will ever happen in DC.

10. Those cities are ripe for another terrorist attack but
if we attack Iran, D.C. will be the primary retaliation target.

11. I disagree. DC is far too hardened to take action against.
The Strip is a ripe watermelon.

How about packing a RV and lighting it off in the infield at Daytona?

There are so many easy targets.

NBA, NFL playoff game.

If I was doing it, I would light up a bunch of malls the day after Thanksgiving. Throw in some WalMarts and Targets. Maybe some multi-plex cinemas. This country's commerce and economy would be flushed down the toilet within the week.
And all of that would be much more easily accomplished than 9/11.

Edited on Wed May-03-06 11:49 PM by walldude
to a first strike on Iran though. They could drop a nuke on D.C. no problem. You can bet if we first strike, someone will be willing to sell Iran a nuke. Probably North Korea.

15. You have to think like they think.

NYC was a kick in the nuts.

Next, you go for the body blows. Go for the folks who still lick stamps, Joe and Mary Public.

Why spend tens of millions of dollars buying a weapon from North Korea (they're not given as gifts) when a few hundred thousand would affect literally millions of families?

23. It already did
I was driving into DC when the plane hit the Pentagon. I was on the Interstate about a mile south of it. I watched it all.

Believe, believe, but I think the East Coast is still a much easier target for anyone.

Ah, it's not like we'll know, is it?

14. "Preternatural...."
Edited on Thu May-04-06 12:37 AM by TomInTib
I keep seeing this word in detective novels, but have never, ever heard a human being say this word. Is this just a "writerly" thing or what? Have you ever met anyone who uses "preternatural" in a sentence in conversation? I am well-read, and still don't quite get it.

How can I have read this word so often and yet never hear it spoken? Is it really a real word?

A,... this particular word is a puzzle to me for the above reasons...and therefore I never quite understand what it means.

16. This might help
Preternatural
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Jump to: navigation, search

The preternatural or praeternatural is that which appears outside or beyond (Latin praeter) the natural. While this may include what is more commonly called the supernatural, it may also simply indicate extremity - an ordinary phenomenon taken 'beyond' the natural. One may have, for example, a preternatural desire, a preternatural curiosity, a preternaturally acute ear (sense of hearing), or even preternaturally big ears.

Often used to distinguish from the divine (supernatural) while maintaining a distinction from the purely natural. For instance, in theology, the angels, both holy and fallen, are endowed with preternatural powers. Their intellect, speed, and other characteristics are beyond human capacities but are still finite.

Other examples of preternatural creatures include Lycanthropes (such as Werewolves), Vampires and Zombies.

17. Thank you for the elucidation on "preternatural", BUT
have you ever heard anyone use that word in a conversational sentence?

I think that OLL is a preternatural creature who sweeps through here every once in a while to keep us on our toes...

22. It sure it, and it's a great word
It's also a very simple word. Revel in our beautiful language, and, no, it's not a "writerly" thing to say (I know you didn't intend to offend, but is being literate and articulate something to be put in quotes because someone has a job?) - it's a lovely word, that's all.

Try this: http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=preternatural

You need to hang out with people who talk gooder.

heh heh heh

If Bush couldn't play the Iran card to use as a diversion to what else is going on in DC. what could he possibly choose to instill the bloddy fear factor!

After Rove is indicted watch the war drums beat louder against Iran..

Many that live deserve death. And some that die deserve life. Can you
give it to them? Then be not too eager to deal out death in judgement.
Even the very wise cannot see all ends.

21. Back to the original post...
Moussaoui knew what was coming, and we (pretty well ) know what is coming...and that's where the common link ENDS!

HE liked it and supported it in his instance. WE do not, in ours. Well, for the most part anyway.

If *every* American citizen was all for going to war in Iran, maybe THEN we could be compared to that inhuman monster Moussaoui.
