In his Last column, Richard Cohen Said 3 Surprising Things!!
Edited on Thu May-04-06 04:48 AM by Leopolds Ghost
Which put together help establish his neocon credentials for attacking
beta-male "bullies" like Stephen Colbert; defending the Iraq-war; etc.

1. He was reading a book on human evolution that he wanted to show everyone because it was "delightfully cynical".

2. That the book in question proves Cohen's contention that mankind has always been warlike, will always engage in warfare (despite the naive beliefs of PC academics) and that religion and ethics are merely a product of evolution.

(a favorite belief of yuppie neoliberals, regardless of whether they believe in God or not, since it brings back Social Darwinism and the godfather of neoconservatism, who saw religion as a social tool just like Cohen, Krauthammer, Himmelfarb and others).

3. Cohen maintains -- in an unremarked-on bit -- that the Bell Curve Hypothesis of IQ is right:

he proclaims that high IQs among Jewish people like himself, relative to other "races" and ethnic groups, are the product of centuries of natural evolution.

Did anyone notice this? Came out Monday or Tuesday.

1. People always want to believe their own group is the best group.
But I have to tell Richard, there ARE dumb Jews. I'm related to several. Who are married to several others. Oh, well.

2. It is interesting how you never see someone claim they belong to
an intellectually inferior group. Or even one that falls into the meaty portion of the bell curve. I wonder why that is? Must be another one for the cynic files...

4. The way he phrases it, he sounds like a Lamarckian
"Jews from Western Europe, their ancestors forced into centuries of cerebral professions, have higher IQs on average than any other ethnic group, Howard Stern notwithstanding"
