Taiwan leader in Abu Dhabi after denied landing in Lebanon

TAIPEI -Taiwanese President Chen Shui-bian’s plane landed in Abu Dhabi on Thursday after he was barred from landing in Lebanon, the foreign ministry reported. The plane had been in the air for 10 hours when it landed at Abu Dhabi airport, a reporter from the Taipei-based cable CTI news network said. snip

The Lebanese authorities refused Chen permission to land in Beirut after a strong protest from China, a Lebanese government source said. snip

Chen is also visiting Costa Rica, another diplomatic ally. But he unexpectedly dropped plans to stop in the United States en route to Latin America, angered by a US decision not to allow a higher-profile visit.

US authorities said Chen could only make refueling stops in Hawaii or in Anchorage, Alaska rather than in the mainland United States.

8. Perhaps it's to make up for the horrible protocol errors during his visit
like calling his nation by the wrong name and playing Taiwan's anthem instead of People's Republic of China's anthem?

2. We allow millions to flood over...
our southern border but we can't let a foreign leader re-gas here??? Another reason we are so loved around the world. China should be happy.

The Chinese get to dictate what we can do now. I guess we owe them so much money we HAVE to abide by their wishes. Poor Taiwan...

4. How many times did Clinton pull something like this? Having China as
a debtor takes a toll. Weren't we ALWAYS championing Taiwan as a statement against Communism? What happened to that? Oh - that's right all anti-Communist policy is now solely targeted at CUBA!

7. China's a creditor, but I know what you mean
Thanks to Bush and his Republican friends in the business sector, the US economy is now a huge house of cards built by a small girl and China's her brother with a baseball and a can of compressed air...

9. Meant creditor, not debtor. It's not good to post on the run and when.
ANGRY!

He has NO respect for anyone except in a small circle of fellow predators and wealthy people and those who help with the smoke and mirros - like FOX and all the other CPN's and their fellow papers and mags - WSJ, NYT, LAT, WP, WT, etc.
