Poll question: Republican Bush Supporters: Stupid, Ignorant or Evil? |
|
The folks who voted for Bush "on purpose" are suffering these days, and we "crazy liberals" have a wide variety of responses available to us: Pity & Support, Condemnation & Rage, etc. With a complete understanding of the fact there are ALWAYS IDIOTS in EVERY PARTY, what do YOU think is the "real" problem? How should we treat these penitent and frequently non-penitent people?
Share your thoughts, pick your favorite, and tell a story or two of your LATEST freeper encounter!

2. A little bit of everything |
|
I know some who are just plain ignorant. I know some who are the meanest scum of the earth. I know some who are great people but brainwashed - they raise funds for great causes, while listening to Rush. I know some who are clueless - don't watch the news and think Bush is going to keep their kids safe all the way out in Podunk, USA. I don't think we can put just one label on them all - I definitely think all of the above applies, and then some.

Based on the things said during the run-up to elections by both sides once can be forgiven for buying a load of bs. To hang on even when the bs is deeeep has got to be a stubborn resistance to the idea their party can be wrong. And, some still blame democrats for changes they hate and no matter what happens they're gonna vote republican. I've repeated this numerous times but I know a lot of people who dislike this president but have voted for him twice based on their perception of his views on very narrow issues (abortion, the war).

6. The Republican Base Is Nostalgic |
|
The Republican base is primarily made up of White males that long for the days of the 1950s where they could have middle class level jobs with very low job skills. So, they believe that if they can bring back the zeitgeist of the 1950s, then the economy of the 1950s will follow. Thus, they want prayer in schools because in the 50s we had prayer. They want to outlaw abortion because in the 50s we outlawed abortion. They want religion in the schools because in the 50s Christian religion was in the schools. They want movies and TV censored because in the 50s they were censored, etc.

7. A little bit of all 3 sadly. |

I think they all have qualities from all three categories. Some have evil intentions, like hating blacks or gays, others are just ignorant and don't realize that they benefit when everyone benefits, and others are to stupid to think for themselves.

My two sisters are Bu$hbots. They know nothing about the issues he supports, are willfully ignorant to the damage he's doing which makes them complicit in his evil deeds.

I say it's denial.
Sure there are the idiots and the professional propagandists who have an active role in enabling the Bush myth. I think most people who still support Bush have too much of themselves invested in the myth of GW Bush. It is too much for them to confront the falsehoods of their beliefs - because that would mean they would have to confront the falsehoods of their very beings.

15. Let's explore this further... |
|
Stupid
1. Slow to learn or understand; obtuse. 2. Tending to make poor decisions or careless mistakes. 3. Marked by a lack of intelligence or care; foolish or careless: a stupid mistake. 4. Dazed, stunned, or stupefied. 5. Pointless; worthless: a stupid job.
This pretty much describes most of the bush* supporters I know.
Ignorant
1. Lacking education or knowledge. 2. Showing or arising from a lack of education or knowledge: an ignorant mistake. 3. Unaware or uninformed.
Okay, some of them also suffer from ignorance.
Evil
1. The quality of being morally bad or wrong; wickedness. 2. That which causes harm, misfortune, or destruction: a leader's power to do both good and evil. 3. An evil force, power, or personification. 4. Something that is a cause or source of suffering, injury, or destruction: the social evils of poverty and injustice.
To me that appears to be an accurate description of their leader, which only goes to prove how ignorant and stupid they are to support the man.
So, the way I see it is, they are all stupid and some are also ignorant for following an evil man.
