Why Stephen Colbert didn't bomb in D.C
"See who we've got here tonight. Gen. Moseley, Air Force Chief of Staff. Gen. Peter Pace, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. They still support Rumsfeld. Right, you guys aren't retired yet, right?"

1. which begs the question - has o'really weighed in on COlbert's perfomance?
I have seen nothing here on his reaction, but of course, I never watch Faux either.

2. Immediately after that, when he greeted Scalia, THAT was classic!
Unforgettable! Talking to my Sicilian paisanno...

5. That, actually, gave me a measure (albeit a small one) of respect
for Scalia, because he took the joke with genuine humor. Unlike Lord Pissypants up on the dais.

11. Scalia was thirsty for recognition and knew when his name
was mentioned he'd be in the home of millions. He had to maintain his rotten persona.

The put down probably sailed right over his coconut.

12. Me, too.
I had a short warm, fuzzy feeling about Scalia when he laughed at himself.

3. LOL, I loved this comment....
"...Colbert wasn't bombing so much as freaking his audience out for his own enjoyment."

The media sycophants were, indeed, freaking out as shown in their lack of coverage of Colbert's performance in their next day coverage of the event.

Oh, and the ABC video shows bush was not above freaking out either as evidenced by his rapid, shallow breathing, pissy faces, etc.

I have NO doubt Colbert was enjoying the reaction.

4. I see the MSM is finally talking about it now
Which shows you that they are in damage control mode for ignoring it the day after, which is further proof that Colbert mattered.

7. Yep, they have gone on the defensive and it is working as well
as ignoring Colbert did, lol. Ignoring him gave the story legs and now defending their ignoring him has increased the growth of the legs.

16. Exactly Right, Frank!
The media/power elite ignores critics. If that doesn't work, they go into attack mode. That is what's happening now.

14. Colbert obviously enjoys pushing limits
If you've ever seen him do an interview, he has no qualms messing with the interviewee's mind as part of the interview.

18. His John Stossell (sp?) interview was great, as well
Only Stossell seemed too clueless to know Colbert was making a fool of him.

6. I enjoyed this review
of Colbert from Troy Patterson.

I was going to name my future dog after Dean, too! LOL!

Wonder who the "trio of Washington wives" were? :)
