Senate setting up Bush for first veto! |
|
Now voting on $108.9 billion Emergency Supplemental. Bush said he'll veto anything over $98 billion.
We shall see...
Voting now on CSPAN.

Bush will become a true lame duck (and acknoledged as such). When Senator Lott pushes through his railroad -- by overriding a presidential veto, he will essentially throw Bush out of office for domestic policy considerations.

8. And the GOP will be taking pats on the back for standing up |
|
and being strong and supporting the troops and supporting Katrina victims and...
This could be a ploy for them to "show" they can stand up to Bush; Bush gets to say he's trying to make Congress control spending (and gets more money to spend in the meantime). Win-Win.
Just in time for Memorial Day.

3. Will he stamp his feet |
|
and redraw the line in the sand? Soon we will hear that he never actually said he would veto "that" bill.

6. He must be against the troops! |
|
It was for funding Iraq/Afghanistan and Katrina. Bush doesn't support the troops if the vetoes this. LOL!
Actually, he probably WILL veto this and then trot out the Snowjob to tell the American public this is proof that he has spending under control. Plus, it will be the Democrats' fault...somehow.

5. What? He can't cover this one with a signing statement? |
|
I mean the treasury is really just his personal bank account, isn't it? All he has to do is refuse to sign the checks, right?

16. He never vetoed an Iraq spending bill before |
|
But put one humanitarian addition to it and it goes right in the garbage can. I don't see how this helps my view of the "Compassionate Conservative" at all.
32% of the country may see it as "Strength and spending control", but I just see it as another act of a heartless administration.
