Brilliant article on * and narcisism:
Writteh by Stephen Soldz, Ph.D., Boston Graduate School of Psychoanalysis:

President Bush spoke last week to wounded soldiers at Brooke Army Medical Center and uttered these immortal words, indicating a lack of true appreciation for the suffering of the gravely wounded, often permanently disabled soldiers he was speaking to:

“As you can possibly see, I have an injury myself — not here at the hospital, but in combat with a Cedar. I eventually won. The Cedar gave me a little scratch. As a matter of fact, the Colonel asked if I needed first aid when she first saw me. I was able to avoid any major surgical operations here, but thanks for your compassion, Colonel.”

This was far from the first time Bush uttered bizarre sounding comments in response to the injuries of others. For some perspective on his behavior, compare what is known about him with the and Statistical Manual (IVth edition: DSM-IV) definition of narcissistic personality disorder :

“A pervasive pattern of grandiosity (in fantasy or behavior), need for admiration, and lack of empathy.”

2. So?
Even I know Bush was trying to get off a joke. I don't think he even knows what funny is, but you can't disect every single silly-ass thing he says.

3. So, you think it was appropriate
for Bush to make a comment like that in front of amputees and people with brain damage, who HE sent into hell?

I'm amazed at the sensibilities of some people who have no problem with Bush's behaviour.

Then again.....

7. Bush
is a friggin' idiot, and some of the things he says are jsut idiotic babbling. Knowing his crappy sense of humor, he probably thought he was cheering them up or something.

4. Yeah, everyone knows Bush is a real jokster
Remember the one about hitting the Trifecta? Yeah, he's a real commedian alright. Maybe he missed his calling because he certainly sucks at being president.

14. Never underestimate your enemies
Bush is a very bright man. Unfortunately, he is also a very sick and vindictive man. He knows exactly what he is doing.

10. Too bad you'd rather think
That Bush is more evil than he is stupid, 'tho extreme stupidity can lead to evil.

18. I don't know why I'm botrhering to answer, but yes...
I think Bush is evil, with a massive personality disorder, comprised of narcissistic and psychopathic traits, leaving him with no capacity for empathy or compassion.

9. Actually you can dissect everything he says.
He's the fucking president.

For better or for worse, he's a world leader. When a world leader talks like a narcisstic sociopath, I'm not going to laugh it off.

What they really mean is, Stop asking the uncomfortable questions!

17. Addiction, Brain Damage and the President
Here's a snip...
First, in this essay, we will look at the characteristics of the so-called "dry drunk;" then we will see if they apply to this individual, our president; and then we will review his drinking history for the record. What is the dry drunk syndrome? "Dry drunk" traits consist of:

Exaggerated self-importance and pomposity
Grandiose behavior
A rigid, judgmental outlook
Impatience
Childish behavior
Irresponsible behavior
Irrational rationalization
Projection
Overreaction
Clearly, George W. Bush has all these traits except exaggerated self importance. He may be pompous, especially with regard to international dealings, but his actual importance hardly can be exaggerated. His power, in fact, is such that if he collapses into paranoia, a large part of the world will collapse with him. Unfortunately, there are some indications of paranoia in statements such as the following: "We must be prepared to stop rogue states and their terrorist clients before they are able to threaten or use weapons of mass destruction against the United States and our allies and friends." The trait of projection is evidenced here as well, projection of the fact that we are ready to attack onto another nation which may not be so inclined.

None of these diagnoses are what we call "mental illness," per se. But in the business, we have a little saying that goes: just because you're crazy, doesn't mean you're not an asshole.

That's my diagnosis--Asshole, First Class.

11. Hmmmmmmmmm
Interesting point of view there friend. In this case the disection reveals an insight into the persona of the worlds most powerful leader. I find it unsettling you don't recognize this. Mr. Bush'c choice of time, place and joke matter point out thatwe have a person in charge who is not in the least bit interested, really, in anyone else, ever. That is scary.......
