Unwelcoming Party For Karl Rove At PA Fundraiser scheduled

LANCASTER, PA - This Thursday, May 4, 2006 Karl Rove will come to the Host Resort in Lancaster County, PA to speak at a fundraiser for US Senator and candidate Rick Santorum. The Lancaster Coalition for Peace & Justice is calling on area residents to join a vigil for peace and an unwelcoming party for Mr. Rove.

Rove’s appearance at the Santorum fundraiser confirms reports that he is stepping back from policy oversight in order to focus on the mid-term elections. This raises questions as to what extent the GOP is distancing itself from failures of the Bush Administration.

Many are expected to join the unwelcoming party. The Lancaster Coalition for Peace & Justice recently turned out 700 people for the three-year anniversary of the Iraq War - the highest per capita turnout in the country. Bill Adams - father of SFC Brent Adams who was killed in Iraq in December- will be present on Thursday, mourning those killed in the Iraq War, and seeking to hold Mr. Rove and the Bush Administration accountable.

Rove was instrumental in constructing the falsehoods that sold the Iraq War. Before the war began, Rove chaired meetings of the Iraq Group, which was “charged with developing a strategy for publicizing the White House’s assertion that Saddam Hussein posed a threat to the United States,” according to CNN. Rove’s task force, in particular, contributed to writing and coordinating speeches by Bush administration officials drumming up Iraq’s purported nuclear threat. This threat, we now know, was nonexistent.

2. I'm sure Rove and Santorum will sneak in the back door, but
the demo on the sidewalk will be a great photo op!

Since this resort is in Pennsylvania Dutch country, maybe people should carry Hex Signs!
