I will not support drilling in ANWR |
|
1. Environmental reasons - enough said there.
2. It is debated how much oil is there - some say 6 months supply, others might say years. Either way, it is just prolonging the inevitable!! Peak oil is near and WE HAVE TO GET OFF OUR OIL ADDICTION.
3. Drilling will not produce oil on the markets immediately. It can take several years before the oil actually comes on the market.
4. The oil will go on the INTERNATIONAL market. It will not be exclusive to America. These are Oil Corporations we are talking about, they are in it to make money and don't give a crap about our gas prices.
5. They will not be charged to drill on FEDERAL lands. The US Government is giving them FREE LAND to drill on. Our deficit strapped budget will get NOTHING from the oil proceeds.
The bottom line is at best the oil produced from ANWR only puts off the problem for a little while and then we are faced with the harsh reality once again. Oil is a finite resource. We are running out. We must abandon it as a fuel source.

1. didn't some people say there is not enough oil up there (ANWR) |
|
anyway, leave the environment alone, geez, these jerks need to come up with an alternative fuel source, but now they saying curb your gas consumption. I don't know but Americans still have a love affair with their cars, and using gas, something has to give here, use public transportation, and save your gas. Geez, people out in Europe and in other places in world have always paid high prices for gas/oil, now it is our turn.

2. The people who say there is more than six months of supply there . . . |
|
are the same people who say there is no global warming.
This is something we have to fight down and do it now.

These pro-drilling congrass pukes make it sound like the gas prices will be down to pre-* levels.

5. More oil won't help. Alternative energy sources are what we need |

6. I don't support it either. |
|
And I give dick Lugar and Eyebeen Baught bloody hell every time it comes up for a vote. They always vote straight party-line, maybe somebody can change Lugar's heart on this.
All that damage for SIX MONTHS worth of oil in TEN YEARS. Insanity!
