1. Rumsfeld says he never said he knew where the WMD's were
Man in audience quotes him "I know where they are, etc"

2. This guy is GREAT... they just shut him up, of course.
A guy just asked, "Where are the WMD? You said you knew where they were, east, west, south of Baghdad. So where are they? Were you lying?"

They just shuffled him out of there. Unbelievable.

Now a guy just stood up and said, "What happened in your childhood that made you who you are? Help the audience, because you're a great man."

:wtf:

9. Did you notice that after that man quoted Rummy's words
And Rumsfeld was bungling around for a condescending answer, security must have grabbed that man because Rumsfeld said, "wait, let him stay for a minute"

5. CNN says that guy was Ray McGovern, 27 year CIA analyst
Edited on Thu May-04-06 01:51 PM by VolcanoJen
They just yanked him out of there. Young guy, military haircut.

:toast: Ray McGovern! :toast:

Edit: The guy they yanked out of there wasn't Ray McGovern, apparently... but McGovern is the one who asked the WMD Question.

... the ones who hoot and holler so that a legitimate question cannot be asked. They yell and hoot over the voices of truth, and then another brownshirt stands up and hustles the voices of truth the hell outta there, lest their hero, WarPig Rumsfeld, hear a criticism.

21. Just caught it -- Rummy actually didn't LET them shut the questioner up
and usher him out, choosing to try to salvage the moment rather than opt out of it like Dubya would have in a heartbeat.

Doesn't mean I respect Rummy -- not one itsy bitty bit, I loathe the man and all he stands for and all he has done to harm America, Americans, and other people in our world.

What I enjoyed MOST about this wonderful drilling by the insistent questioner (sorry don't know who he is yet) was the way he had Rumsfeld stammering over his stammers!!

:woohoo: :bounce: :applause:

I LOVE IT! IMO this is the way all these creeps in the Bu$h&Co Crime Cartel should have been questioned starting a long time ago. Like the huge drubbing Colbert delivered to Rummy's boss recently, this hammering of Rummy for all to see was simply exquisite.

More, I want MORE of this type of insistent, unrelenting questioning until they're all stammering themselves right into prison!

23. Where is this? Who is he speaking to?
I don't see how someone who asks a legitimate question would just be tossed. He quoted him and asked for an explanation about the veracity of that quote. How is that not appropriate? I just don't get it.

Rummy says we know where the WMD are. No WMD found. It's perfectly reasonable to ask why he said that then. Are we all supposed to just politely pretend that they didn't say this stuff because it embarasses them now? This is insane. How much longer can this go on?

31. Not sure to what audience he was speaking, but I caught "Atlanta"
in a sign behind Rummy. I think CNN was showing the heading "Developing Story" or something like that in the "crawlspace" beneath the video feed. That's barely stopping short of calling the incident "Breaking News" -- but either of those terms IMO shows CNN is finally "getting it" at least a little bit and recognizes when something revealing the barenakedness of our leading criminals happens these days.

I have almost stopped watching the three "all news" channels -- a major statement in itself from this lifelong news junkie. But I was busy reading some good stuff on DU while waiting for a TV program to come on at 2:00 p.m., so I switched over to CNN and muted the sound, just in case some news appeared there worth checking out.

So I missed the very beginning of this hard questioning Rummy was getting, explains why I didn't realize the brownshirts did apparently hustle a younger man out as the older fella carried on bravely quoting Rummy to his own face and demanding to know if what he'd said were LIES or what?

When Rummy said, "Wait, let him stay a minute...," the guy took full advantage of that opportunity to add more to the quote of Rummy's own, disputing openly that asshole's refutation of the quote. The questioner said something like, "NO, you did say 'we know exactly where the WMDs are' -- you said they were 'north of Baghdad, and in Tikrit,'" I believe it was, and then he named one or two other locations, still clearly quoting Rummy himself.

I hope this incident gets more airplay later, for several reasons. To me, the highlight was Rummy's stuttering and stammering ... it just went on and on. He's always been such a wily fox, very good (much better than Dubya fer sure) at fielding hard questions on the rare occasions when he gets them. He usually manages to divert, set up straw men, throw out red herrings, and otherwise to evade giving an honest answer, so he doesn't normally stammer much.

BUT HE SURELY DID TODAY! If someone could just clip out that part of it, the last few words of the questioner, then Rummy stammering and searching for a good reply, then stammering some more ... and some more, that would speak worlds to anyone who ever thought he really did have all the answers.

-- And then to have that toady questioner next in line stand up and call Rummy "a great man," and ask him to "help us" and tell us about his childhood and what made him the great man he was ... sure was clear what a suck-up reaction THAT was!

No clothes, no clothes, they all got just no clothes at all.... heh heh heh

I have no Tivo and no DVD recorder, and my VCR takes too long to get going if it's not already set up and ready and the remote in hand.

Second time in about a week I've reeelly wished I had Tivo! Can't afford it, but I'm developing Tivo envy of those who have it. ;)

"They're in the area around Tikrit and Baghdad and east, west, south and north somewhat."

Rumsfeld said it on This Week with George Stephanopolus on March 30, 2003.

If he needs to refresh his memory, he can find the transcript on the DoD website.
