Colbert's performance has been eradicated from youtube.com
Edited on Thu May-04-06 02:43 PM by spinbaby
I just went to one I had bookmarked and found "This video has been removed due to copyright infringement." A quick search revealed that all videos of Colbert at the White House Press dinner has been deleted. OTHER Colbert videos are still up.

Edited on discovery that 2004 video was a parody.

Don't recall that it was scrapped.

9. The whole thing is up streaming on C-Span. And they offer a DVD
for sale — which is probably why they're asking people to take it down.

37. And now Comedy Central has a link to CSPAN on their site...
...<http://www.comedycentral.com/shows/the_colbert_report/index.jhtml>

Plus, they played the SC Press Conference during his show tuesday night, so if you miss that, it's at the same link.

That's a CNN video and it was posted by the same person as the other video you found and the posting was done very recently(May 3rd)

See my other posts for why the 2004 one is not what you think it is either.

this morning. The anchor-holes (sosobad and Miles) didn't have follow up questions like that.

5. Get used to this kind of thing...
Edited on Thu May-04-06 02:26 PM by Mr_Jefferson_24
...it's about to become the norm. Neocons have the heavy hand of oppression and Diebold left to help in their desperate effort to hang onto the reins of power and they fully intend to use both.

10. CSPAN holds the copyright and is selling DVDs of this program
so I doubt it has anything to do with neocon oppression, lol. You can probably still watch the video at c-span.org.

First off, its a parody(not c-span's though it does use cspan coverage) of Bush's appearance hence all the pics of blown up children.

2nd it was posted today.

15. If C-SPAN's motivation was...
...economic I would think the wide exposure would be a boon for them. Why threaten copyright infringement?

23. it's Colbert's remarks that are getting the attention, not the fact
that CSPAN aired the event. They get zilch if their video is downloaded from someone else's site. If they offer it free from their own site, at least they've brought eyeballs to their site. If they sell the actual DVD, even better.

29. Well, if access to this video...
...remains relatively easy and unfettered, but has to go through CSPAN from now on, that would imply this has more to do with protecting copyright, but if access to it becomes difficult or simply dries up, that will suggest something else.

26. It's the big tease
C-SPAN got just enough wide exposure to boost awareness of Colbert's triumph to water cooler level.

Then the freebie stops, and the sales begins. I can hear the cash registers now.

Edited on Thu May-04-06 02:45 PM by Mr_Jefferson_24
...been funny, but completely benign with no hard truths thrown at Bush or the Washington Press Corp, and the CSPAN video was enjoying the same popularity, do you think it would still be getting pulled citing copyright infringement?

30. Yeah. Go over to C-Span. Click "Store"
The WHCD videos and cds are huge sellers, with a healthy markup.

And, frankly, I'm sure they figured out that circumstances had gifted them with a valuable commodity.

I don't begrudge them.....

34. I don't question their right...
...to do this, I have reservations about their motivation and wonder what, and where, pressure may come from in a decision like this. Maybe it was purely an economic decision.

8. Yep, it's still out there
and some sites have chopped it into 3 chapters, making it a little easier for folks still struggling with dialup connections.

Editor and Publisher has the full transcript for people with really, really slow dialup connections, and it reads as well as it sounded, although you can't hear the nervously polite applause and see the strained faces of people whose rubber chicken dinners suddenly turned into mildewed slug.

35. Well OF COURSE! Why give away something you can sell? Or at least...
...put on a websites with ad space to sell.

I just found it made the Real Player "Real Media" browser

Front and center (it's at I-film, but I haven't looked for it there yet).

The way to find it is:

1) Open Real Player

2) Click the "Real Guide" link at the bottom of the player

3) Click on Colbert's face when you see it.

Plus, it's at Salon as a Quick time movie: <http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=364&topic_id=1075073>
