DIEBOLD DISASTERS CONTINUE: Security Alert in PA! Failures in MI and OH!
One Diebold disaster now breaking after another today, though it shouldn't overshadow the similar meltdown/train wreck issues coming from their evil twin, ES&S, about whom we will also have more later today... Will the National Media notice soon? Brad

DIEBOLD DISASTERS CONTINUE: Pennsylvania Issues 'Security Vulnerability' Alert for Diebold Electronic Voting Systems!
Several Counties 'Locking Down' Machines as Company Promises Last Minute Software Fix Just Before Upcoming Primary Election

Election Integrity Advocates Suggest Warning May Stem from Recent Independent Voting Machine Analysis Revealing Major Security Flaws in Diebold Hardware and Software

Just weeks before their May 16th Primary Election, the Pennsylvania Sec. of State, Pedro Cortez issued a Security Alert late Tuesday concerning a "potential security vulnerability" in Diebold electronic voting machines which could " allow ''unauthorized software to be loaded on to the system." The warning was revealed yesterday at a meeting in Schuylkill County.

Details about the warning are still sketchy this morning, and we're trying to learn more, but The Morning Call is reporting today that the "glitch" was "found" by Diebold and counties are now being instructed to lock down systems and seal the memory cards into them.

A "fix" is said to be on its way from Diebold, though that begs the question of whether the last-minute software patch will be certified by federal and/or state authorities before it's installed on machines that have already proven to be vulnerable to hackers and other failures...

3. The sh!t would hit the fan if Diebold had this level of ATM failures
Edited on Thu May-04-06 02:54 PM by jean
This is horrendous.

Edit: An afterthought ... would it be worthwhile for all of us to call our local banks and bitch about Diebold - how we're reading about the voting machine failures and how can we trust our money with the bank if they use Diebold equipment - that we don't TRUST Diebold how can the bank trust a disreputable business that can't even record votes properly??? I'm going to call.

9. Can we get a court order
in time to save the 2006 election?

We need court orders that ban the machines for the November election and that all voting will be done on paper ballots.

If we don't act now, we will surely have a constitutional crisis in Nov.

The repugs are doing this on purpose. They know they can't win anything anymore. They are going to throw every monkey wrench they have in order to subvert the results.

What would it take to take this thing to court before it's too late?

11. Suit may be filed in PA against Diebold Machines soon...

See the last line in my story (linked above) on the Security Alert in PA. Refers to word I'm hearing that a lawsuit filed by voters may soon be coming in the Keystone State...

will it set a precedent for other states?

2. Is this case going to reach a decision in time to have an effect before the election?

Edited on Thu May-04-06 04:07 PM by LaPera
controlled by the republicans & the WH, don't dare make this a national issue, too much cheating & corruption on the republican side involving electronic voting machines...So expect the same manipulations and breakdowns in November (where certain precinct are targeted by the WH to assure a republican majority in congress -- as the republicans must steal it of BushCo will face indictments & jail) as it will continue thought the 2008 elections...

The republicans keep getting away with it, no one is calling them on it, they know they can't win without the distorting the votes via the electroic voting machines, so why not continue?

23. And anyone who calls them on it is a tinfoil hat conspiracy nut
I've brought up the concept of rigged voting machines and been scoffed at. "What, the people that own these companies aren't allowed the right to belong to a political party? Most company owners are Republicans, so it's just logical the owners of the voting machine companies would be too. You're really falling for a load of crap!"

24. They say that
"....falling for a load of crap", while up to their chins in crap.

The facts show that the election of 2004 was stolen by e-voting. Here are but three:

1)The numbers produced by the repuke owned 'election central' say that the captain of the blimp got 11 million more votes in 2004 than 2000.

2) Exit polls were well beyond the margin of error in every state that had repuke owned e-vote counters. But were dead on in paper states.

3) 20 states that in 2004 used the e-vote counters have changed their minds and now require a paper trail be printed of everyones' votes.

28. I just reply "you wouldn't want an ATM transaction w/o a receipt
would you?" That usually shuts them up.

The stuff you cited is valid, but doesn't get through their dense little heads.

30. Well, mired in the crap......
... its amazing they can hear at all.

Ya know, some 'experts' in ER would jump down your throat for saying receipt. But, as you pointed out, that's all the mass of idiots understand.

Maybe they would understand that the new systems have caused many election officials to still be counting votes weeks after the polls closed. The machines have fixed elections, alright.

25. We don't use them at my MI precinct
In Warren. We use the old fashioned lever machines.

When I last voted in Detroit (2000), they had just switched to the optical scanners. I liked the ballots on that system, because we used the "Butterfly ballots" before that and they are hard to line up.
