Maybe This is Why People are Attacking a Kennedy AGAIN....
For nine years, the Republican-controlled Congress has stonewalled hard-working Americans by blocking every proposal to raise the minimum wage. The result is unacceptable. A single mother with two children who has a full-time minimum wage job now has to survive on annual pay that's $4,500 below the poverty line.

Enough is enough. No one who works for a living should have to live in poverty. I refuse to stand by while our country's leaders ignore the plight of millions of workers -- and I'm asking you to join me.

With your signature, you can join in demanding an up-or-down vote in the United States Senate on the Fair Minimum Wage Act:

http://www.tedkennedy.com/upordown

The Act will raise the minimum wage from its current level of $5.15 to $7.25 by 2008. That's an extra $4,400 a year for these hard-working families to spend on basic necessities like food, housing and childcare.

In the nine years that Congress has refused to raise the minimum wage, the GOP leadership in Congress has seen fit to raise Members' own salaries by $30,000 a year. And it's not because Congress is working harder. The Republican leadership has scheduled fewer work days for this year's session than in any Congress since 1948. That's hardly the leadership America deserves.

With the 2006 elections in sight, it's time to see which Senators value the hard work of the 10 million Americans who earn minimum wage. Don't let the Republican Senate ignore the issue -- demand an answer now:

http://www.tedkennedy.com/upordown

A clear majority of Americans supports an increase. The consensus bridges party lines and unites Americans, regardless of race or religion, around the concept of a fair wage for a hard day's work.

Yet the Republican leadership continues to dodge the issue, demonstrating an increasingly out-of-touch agenda.

Dismantling Social Security. Denying solutions to increase student aid and lower prescription drug costs. Delaying a hard-earned raise for American workers. This isn't the people's agenda. It's time for the Republican-controlled Congress to put the value of hard work ahead of its own salaries or special interests.

Show the Republican leadership that you're with me. Demand a vote on the minimum wage:

http://www.tedkennedy.com/upordown

The Republican leadership tries to pay lip service to the nation's most needy. I say, it's time to replace empty rhetoric with decisive action.

The majority of Americans want an increase in the minimum wage. Help us prove that people are watching and waiting for answers.

Tell the Senate you won't wait any longer.

Thank you for your continuing support -- it's having an impact!

Sincerely,

Senator Edward M. Kennedy

13. Attack a Kennedy Son through the Father has always been what they do...
Some of you don't remember but the Kennedy Family for decades was villified as if they were the MOST WEALTHY/INFLUENTIAL FAMILY IN AMERICA! They were considered by the MediaWhores of "that time" as more wealthy than the Rockefellers...More Powerful than the Vanderbuilts..AND.....THEY WERE IRISH CATHOLIC UPSTARTS!

The "Ruling ELITE of the TIME" constantly trashed them like they do ALL DEMS by saying they were "run by Crime/Mafia Families/They stole their Money from the American People/The Founding Father of the Family Dealt with NAZI's...they were Irish Immigrant Trash who made their money illegally..

Haven't we heard this CRAP BEFORE? Who has ever investigated and gotten to the Blitzer's/Faux News what the BUSHES WERE DOING SINCE THE EARLY 20th CENTURY?

Who? ........... "THEY WON'T BE HAPPY UNTIL THE LAST KENNEDY IS DEAD...the "Last Kennedy Left Standing who could run against them." :-(

You'd need to go back before some of your were born to get how much the REPUGS HATED...HATED the KENNEDY's to understand.

But..the "library is your friend." And, Older DU'ers can give you the scoop about what they lived through in the "HISTORY OF TRASHING THE DEMS IN AMERICA...PARTICULARLY THE "TRAGIC KENNEDY's." (who seem to always die or get caught up in "unfortunate accidents.")

2. No... they're attacking him because he's a Christian
Edited on Thu May-04-06 06:18 PM by IanDB1
How else can you explain why they're going after him for this minor infraction.

It's not like he ran a stop sign and killed Laura Bush's ex-boyfriend.

already broke. (Hint: it involved an embattled SecDef and an outspoken ex-spook). Didn't I read on this very website that CNN was showing that video repeatedly?

Until Wolfie got the inevitable phone call from Karl, that is...

12. If he was drunk, I won't be there defending him...
I think if he was drunk, that it is an awful thing. A close relative of mine was killed by a drunk driver and don't know if I'll ever get over it. If this guy was drunk, he could have killed someone.

We have no evidence except hearsay, but I am very suspicious. Why would cops lie about something like this? He hasn't been charged or anything yet, but I think the best way to approach this is to protect his right to a fair trial.

We shouldn't exonerate or convict him before we know more.

14. Why would the cops lie or why
would a congressman lie? Whose word you going to take? Same old situation just like McKinney... CNN has not even gotten the official police report, they won't release it.. Everything you are hearing is hearsey..... Congressman Kennedy said he had not had alchohol, that is an official statement...
