Republicans keep talking about increasing the supply of oil
Isn't the solution to decrease the demand? Create alternative, renewable fuels, more efficient engines, encourage use of public transport. These guys have to be hammered on their inability to deal with the problem and forge ahead with a rational solution. That is Republicanism in a nutshell.

(If Democrats can't beat the shit out of these jokers in November, there is something dreadfully wrong with the party.)

5. "I believe in an energy policy that promotes consumption."
Bush's own words.

6. We Should Quietly Encourage Them To Vigorously Pursue And Publicize
this strategy. We need to facilitate GOP branding of the 'drilling the future' strategy.

Why? Because it has zero chance of success. Petroleum production is at or near it's peak, and will soon begin terminal decline.

Meanwhile, we need to be promoting a plan with the only chance of success. Conservation, societal transformation, and alternative energy sources.

7. DAMN...how STUPID of me...
Why didn't I think of that? Increase supply. That's the answer. Let's just create a rift in the space-time continuum and get Momma Earth and Big Daddy Sun to poop out more crude. Gosh, I feel so silly for not thinking of that sooner. :sarcasm: <------as if I needed that...

8. Let me think... Chimp attacks Iran... Arabs turn off our spigot...
The supply of oil increases for the rest of the world while the USA starts learning to walk places again.

9. What better time to increase production than when.......
prices and profits are at an all time high?
I'm sure the oil companies would love to get their hands on as much as possible.
Supply and demand is a myth when five companies sell all the gasoline.

I know they teleconference on a daily basis.

10. The issue isn't supply, it's speculation.
Supply is at a 20-year high.

What's driving the price of oil is speculation...speculation based on Bush making noise about Iran.

Increasing supply won't make a difference at the pump. We don't have an oil shortage. The only thing that will make a difference is getting Bush to shut his mouth.
