There was no political statement, no agenda and absolutely no taking of sides.
At the beginning, they showed how the Hurrican exploded, which fascinated me as I love weather and climate studies. The middle showed what the Hurricane did and how New Orleans was destroyed, which sent chills up and down my spine, as well as giving me an empty feeling in the pit of my stomach.
The last part dictated the failures of Government, which left me completely infuriated. I wanted to throw things at the TV set.
Americans subjected to lies about them, false reporting, faulty reporting and a government so incapable to take care of its own citizenry. . .at the end Nat'l Geo. even said we aren't safer now than we were in 9/11 because all the evidence shows our government (all levels) have no plan to deal with a disaster.
With the 2006 hurricane season right around the corner, which American city will be sacrificed?
And, what is happening down there now that Americans have forgotten about Katrina, forgotten about the victims and forgotten about the misery, ineptitude and devestation that Category 4 storm caused?
Personally, I wonder if Trent Lott's house has been rebuilt for the Chimp and have coffee on it with the Sheet wearer!

what happened to the port? And what happened to the 2005 harvest that would normally have been barged down the river and shipped out of NO? And what's gonna happen this year and going forward if farmers don't think they can get their crops to market?

5. I saw it last night...... |
|
reliving that nightmare wasn't comfortable. I was glued to the TV 24/7 for three days. My daughter was supposed to return to Tulane University on the 27th. I forbid her to return after watching that monster brewing in the Gulf. I told her to wait a few days until it was over. She was angry, we'd had so many false alarms before and she expected another. I can honestly say that's the best decision I ever made.
She's graduating next Saturday. I can't wait to get her the hell out of NOLA before another hurricane season begins. Four years of worrying, evacuating....... I love NOLA but in it's present condition with another hurricane season bearing down......adios. The worst we have to worry about here in western New York is the occasional ice storm or blizzard. I'll start sleeping a lot better now, I know that! ;)
