5. That is true, we have protectionism for ethanol |
|
but another fact also remains, ethanol is NOT the most efficient fuel source, especially the way we are using it

4. we have known about energy issues at least as far back as 1973 |
|
NO ONE SHOULD BE SURPRISED BY THIS
Nothing has been done for over 30 years to address this problem
We can blame it on China, and mideast turmoil which we helped fuel, but it still remains we are the Largest users of energy

7. Of course there isn't a short term solution to this long term problem |
|
We're running out of cheap, easily available oil, and the only solution that is out there is to switch our country off of oil as a fuel source. This isn't going to happen quickly, but the sooner we face up to this fact, and start working on the solution, the better off we'll be.
Biodiesel, derived from algae, is an off the shelf solution that we can start implementing now. Biodiesel from algae will indeed fulfill all of our fuel needs, but we need to start laying down the infrastructure now. Building the ponds that are needed(wastewater treatment plants are ready made and readily available), mandating the time period for all vehicles to be switched to diesel engines, etc. Ten years is needed to fully complete this, so the sooner we start, the sooner we're off of oil.
But diddling around with rebates and gouging investigations and such short term approaches simply masks the scope of the problem we're facing, and prolong the length of time that we're still dealing with petroleum, and increasing the chances that this entire country goes right over the cliff. Let's stop beating around the bush, pointing fingers, and dealing with short term solutions. Instead, face up to the reality that oil is no longer feasible as a fuel solution, and start working on the solution, biodiesel.

8. Who believes that gas prices |
|
will ever be lowered again? I don't think it will happen. People are still paying the price, the Feds ain't doin' nothing about it. Big Oil will take the verbal abuse in exchange for unprecedented profits and nothing can stop them. So tell me why you think prices will ever go down.
