USA Today founder Neuharth: Bush supporters were 'suckered'
http://www.usatoday.com/news/opinion/columnist/neuharth/2006-05-04-neuharth_x.htm

... How low can Bush's approval rating go? My hunch is it's at or near the bottom. That 34% represents mostly unshakeable far-right wingers. Like Bush, Vice President Cheney and company, they are in denial. As were the 24% in the polls who still approved of President Richard Nixon before he resigned in disgrace.

What happened to the 37% who have switched from pro-Bush to anti-Bush? They finally realized they were suckered by Bush and his buddies back then about Saddam Hussein's alleged weapons of mass destruction, his tie to terrorists and his threat to the USA.

President Abraham Lincoln was right when he said: "You may fool all of the people some of the time; you can even fool some of the people all of the time, but you can't fool all of the people all of the time."

1. Sounds to me like Mr Neuharth
loves America and is a true patriot. The upcoming attacks on him by bush lovers will prove my point.

11. Yeah, I thought I remembered
the owner of USA Today was a true Patriot but when I read the caption I thought he was talking about .."bush supporters" being "suckered" at the WHCD with Colbert being the "Tojan Horse".

4. Suckered?
How can anyone who voted for Bush plead ignorance of his true aims and goals, and his avowed opposition to freedom, liberty and prosperity? Unless, of course, you only get your information from outlets such as . . . well, USA Today.

Bush has delivered on every promise he's ever made to impoverish millions, wage unrelenting and unwinnable war, and kill thousands. He didn't "sucker" anyone that didn't actively want to be suckered.

6. Most of the US only gets their info from mass media
Lazy and complacent. That's what happens when they have nothing to lose except some of their tax obligation. And they still don't really give a crap. Unfortunately, their vote still counts.

10. Agreed...
they might have been able to plead "suckered" the first time, but certainly not the second.

Ignorance is not an excuse. Every single person who voted for Bush in 2004 has blood on their hands.

14. Yeah, Bush voters weren't "suckered". They just plain suck.
Anyone who voted for him the first time, let alone the SECOND time gets no respect from me.

The guy was a mumbling mush-mouth from day one of his campaign. Anyone could see he was dumb as a box of rocks.

No Sympathy. No pardon from me. Only disgust and contempt.

18. The reason Bush could not get it the saying right
Besides the swirling Jack Daniels on his brain, was because the idiot never understood what it meant in the first place.

15. This from the man who brought us our morning pablum
...in full color.

And what did you do, Mr. Neuharth, to expose Bush for the fraud he is? Were you "some of the people all of the time" or "all of the people some of the time?"

16. Lincoln vs. Bush
President Abraham Lincoln was right when he said: "You may fool all of the people some of the time; you can even fool some of the people all of the time, but you can't fool all of the people all of the time."

A couple of years ago, Bush said: "You can fool some of the people all of the time, and these are the ones you need to concentrate on."

Sadly, there still are those who Bush fools all the time; they're known as Bushbots, fundies, and the superrich parasites who are making a killing off the price of gas.

17. Suckers? No, they CHOSE not to know
The information was out there, and not necessarily in obscure places, either. In fact, there was so much anti-Bush information out there that the only way the Bushies could maintain their credibility was to mount a defense similar to Groucho Marx's line, "Who are you going to believe, me or your lying eyes?"
