to the abundance of those who have much; it is whether
we provide enough for those who have too little." -FDR

From today's NYT-
Analysis of Tax Bill Finds More Benefits for the Rich
The tax cut bill that Senate and House leaders have generally agreed upon is expected to save Americans at the center of the income distribution an average of $20 each, according to estimates by the Tax Policy Center, a nonprofit research organization in Washington.

The top tenth of 1 percent, whose average income is $5.3 million, would save an average of $82,415......

Those who make less than $75,000 — which includes about 75 percent of all taxpayers — would save, at most, $110 each. Those making more than $1 million would save, on average, almost $42,000.

.....Congress values the tax cuts at $70 billion. They would have to be financed with borrowing.

1. k & r
cuz this kind of tax action is killing us all. We need to understand the numbers. Math and science be damned is the thinking of this administration for exactly this reason. If more people tried to really understand the impact of the real numbers....It's not intellectual elitism to understand so that you can talk back!!!Thank you for this post.

2. Rob Peter ??
We must remember this little saying....

When you rob Peter to pay Paul, you will always have Paul's support.

5. "Buddy Can You Spare A Dime" lyrics . . .
as performed by Peter, Paul & Mary . . .

Once I built a railroad, I made it run
I made it run against time
Once I built a railroad, and now it's done
Buddy, can you spare a dime?

Once I built a tower way up to the sun
Of bricks and morter and lime
Once I built a tower, and now it's done
Buddy can you spare a dime?

Once in khaki suits, gee we looked swell
Full of that Yankee-Doodlee-Dum
A half-a-million boots went sloggin' through hell
And I was the kid with the drum

Say don't you remember, you called me Al
It was Al all the time
Say don't you remember, I was your pal
Buddy, can you spare a dime?

Once I built a railroad, I made it run
I made it run against time
Once I built a railroad, and now it's done
Buddy, can you spare a dime?

7. I'm throwing this in W supporter's faces when they bring up taxes.
Like they're going to save anything more than $100. This is GOLD!

This gets so little play in the media. I guess Russert and Mitchell and Matthews are counting their windfalls too.

And we're BORROWING it to hand over to them. What a thing.

11. What about this thought RS --->
I wonder if we could some way (of course legally but dig around) - gain access to some the STOCK and INVESTMENT holdings of some who we consider Corporate Media shills for the BushBotBorg? Especially dealing with either the Oil and Military Industrial Complex. The foregoing knowledge would be very enlightening - may fill in some glaringly suggestive agendas, don't cha think?

13. Is that even possible?
When Matthews got money for speaking to gop groups, his boss went to bat for him aggressively. Is that info public?

14. Well ...

There are ways of finding out that are not REALLY ILLEGAL (ex-lovers, wives, husbands, anyone who was once close to them that they stepped on up the Corporate Media Whore Ladder, etc.)

It's just a thought ... or like some would say ... a cry out in the wilderness. :P

On Edit: Ya know, in my wildest nightmares I sort of envision that *'s Domestic Spying Program is often pointed at his political enemies. Whoa, what beautiful and potential blackmail-type information one could ascertain with a little wire-tape type snooping, aye? Yes, we should all be afraid, very afraid. :scared: One must ask, why *exactly* ARE so many democratic representatives meek today? Is it all over worry about being re-elected or has KKKarl informed you that you're their bitch? It's thrifty business since there's fewer people to be paid off.

16. Yes, that's why we can USE that to our advantage ...
well, some of us could. Remember it was one, only one honest San Diegan Investigative Reporter who started "looking into" ole' Rep. Duke Cunningham's finances. Hum ... can't we all do a little investigative reporting? - All being above board and legal, of course. ;)
