PAYBACK TIME FOR FREEPERS: One coming off life support...
Got your attention?

The Right to Lifers wholeheartedly joined the fight for Andrea Clark's right to live. The Freepers have a member being removed from life suppport today (not fighting it--she's brain dead).

If you're the praying type, please offer up a little for her & the family...the right to live and die with dignity is important to all of us.

3. A sad scene indeed, made doubly so because it was unexpected. . .
Enter the hospital for a "routine" procedure and end up wheeled into the morgue. My heart goes out to her friends and family. . . to anyone caught in such a nightmare scenario. It shouldn't happen -- yet it does. And as you say, elehhhna, we all deserve a life of dignity, especially in the closing hours. I pray that her loved ones find the strength and peace of acceptance and retain only cherished memories of the love and laughter.

Edited on Fri May-05-06 10:21 AM by Hepburn
...a husband of one of my friends went in for a procedure just about like this and the same thing happened. Only he just had an angioplasty and no by-pass. The doctor nicked the aorta and it ruptured and that was the end of him.

For the family of Judy from Free Republic: I am not a praying person, but comforting thoughts are going your way from me and mine in your time of loss and sorrow. So sorry about what happened. The loss of a loved one is a very hard thing to go through.

8. Not the praying type...
...don't believe in any afterlife.

But I am glad that her family can let her body go, because she no longer exists.

And I hope that they recover from this and can go forward with enjoying the all-too-brief spans we can claim.

23. Prayers and Peace for JudyB's family
Edited on Fri May-05-06 11:35 AM by Horse with no Name
As I watched a very wise physician one time explain the futility of a patient's case to the family, his words rang true then and they ring true now(paraphrased).

"We can offer your mother the best that medicine has to offer. We can do the treatments. We can operate. We can buy time. But at the end of the day, no matter what we do, we've reached the end of the road. We have no idea if that time we buy will bring suffering or peace. The decision belongs to you, her family. It is entirely your decision of how to proceed, but whatever you decide, just know that you made the right decision. There aren't any wrong decisions. Anything you decide to do, there is no doubt it was done out of love."

May you find peace in your decisions. Godspeed.

53. My best friend had to remove her 24 yr old son from life-support
The hospital had done everything they could for him, and the machines were keeping him alive.. I think the hospital was waiting for the right moment to approach her with organ donation (which she did).

Just a flukey car accident where everyone else walked away, and Jeff ended up dead

54. I'm so sorry for your friend's loss
And yours as well.
Organ donation is one of the single greatest things a family can do--and it enabled her son to die a hero to all of the families who received his organs and with it, a second chance at life.
Bless her for having the ability to make that hard decision when her own life had been turned upside down.
That is the ultimate test of selflessness.

Throwing out another prayer for Free Republic. Considering some of the comments and signature lines, those people need a lot of praying.

she has been on life support, but her husband has seen that she will probably not get recover. All life support has been withdrawn and now it's a matter of time. She's a fighter but this could be her last bout.

I will pray for Judy and her family. I have a husband who has had eight or nine angioplasties and a quadruple by-pass. I am paralyzed with fear every time we have to go into the hospital. I always appreciated all the prayers for my hubbie and our family.,
