WND: National ID is the Mark of the Beast
Edited on Fri May-05-06 11:09 AM by Viking12
Although there are many rational reasons to oppose a National ID system, the whack-jobs at WorldNutDaily have boiled it down to the completely insane:

Is the national ID card the next step toward the imposition of the biblical "mark of the beast" Christians believe will be required to buy and sell during the Last Days?

-snip-

"There is a prophecy in the Bible that foretells a time when every person will be required to have a mark or a number, without which he or she will not be able to participate in the economy," states the Christian website NoNationalID.com. "The prophecy is 2,000 years old, but it has been impossible for it to come to pass until now. With the invention of the computer and the Internet, this prophecy of buying and selling, using a number, can now be implemented at any time. Has the time for the fulfillment of this prophecy arrived?"

-snip-

"This is probably our last chance to head off the mechanism before it is actually implemented as the mark," states the site in the FAQ section. "It truly may be now or never."

-snip-

Endtime Ministries' Irvin Baxter, a radio host, believes the national ID is a precursor to the forced embedding of radio-frequency chips under the skin. Baxter told the Concord, N.H., Monitor: "That's where we are headed right now. The prophecy states that you will have to receive a mark on your hand or in your forehead."

3. Let them believe it!
Who wants a chipped ID card that could be read by virtually anyone with the money to purchase a reader?

And how long before technology is developed (it probably already exists) to change the information on it?

4. Hold on a sec.
Shouldn't the folks who believe in the 'Last Days' and all that hooey actually want to bring them about? I mean, if the Rapture is inevitable and 'the number of the Beast' and Armageddon are all part of the plan, shouldn't they want to hustle down the road to the End Times?

I'd think the fundies would be lining up to get implants.

5. "Endtime Ministries". What a jolly sounding religion.
They should stick with the snake handling and babbling in tongues. More rational.

9. It's when they require you to accept a chip
say in your hand, or forehead... The mark represents your acceptance of the beast... You will not be able to buy or sell without it.. The name is a number and the number is a name... We have that now with our SSN's...

People read different things into revelations..
