Is the Harpers story about Porter Goss about to come out?
Supposedly, the Harpers story puts Goss and his lacky, Kyle "Dusty" Foggo, at the poker-and-hookers parties at the Watergate.

I wonder if Bush got his first look at the article... I'm thinking maybe he did.

I'm also blown away by how uninformed the Washington press corps is on the Watergate Hooker Scandal that's about to blow up in all of our faces. They're speculating and speculating as to why Goss would resign, but none of them have mentioned the upcoming scandal. At ALL.

They're really quite worthless, aren't they?

1. Verrrrrrry interesting ...
Didn't know ol' Porter had any connection to that, but it might explain this sudden departure. My take was that he was only the hatchet man, sent in to carve out dissent from the agency, and now that they've got the troops in line, he can move on ... but the Harpers angle feels more true.

5. amazing yes
These guys won't resign for lying, outing CIA covert agents, going to war on spurious information, or any other reason that has affected US policy and made us the scourge of the world. But strip poker and hookers? You're out!

2. Any old Koreagate/CIA connections to this from days of yore ?
The operations sound almost identical to Liddy's Watergate "Operation Gemstone" and the subsequent Koreagate scandal the media ignored. Sun Myung Moon ties ? Who knows.

3. bigtree posted this:
Goss denies that he partied with Wilkes.

TPM Muckraker digs into reports that Goss may be implicated (http://www.harpers.org/sb-red-lights-on-capitol-hill.ht... ) in the “free limousine service, free stays at hotel suites at the Watergate and the Westin Grand, and free prostitutes” provided by corrupt defense contractors. “This is horribly irresponsible. He hasn’t even been to the Watergate in decades,” a CIA spokeswoman said. “When I asked if Goss had attended Wilkes’ parties at the Westin or other locations, repeated the denial. ‘It’s horribly irresponsible. Flatly untrue.‘” (http://www.tpmmuckraker.com/archives/000505.php )

Codespeak for "You won't find his name in the registry".

He was there, all right. I have it from the inside (friend who works at The Watergate).

23. The TPMMuckraker stories say lots and lots of reporters...
... have been sniffing around the Watergate, as well as the limo company that shuttled those involved in HookerGate.

This is gonna get good, now that Goss has resigned. I wonder if Dusty Foggo resigned as well?

After all Snotty Scotty asked Rove and Libby the same thing about Valerie Plame.

Do any of these people even know what the truth is????

30. I'm sure this post is what's leading to that speculation...
On Talking points memo, they speculated that Porter Goss fit the description of someone who was involved made by Ken Silverstein on Harpers' Magazine blog site. So it wouldn't be too hard to conclude that Silverstein might be coming out with an article shortly that will nail Goss, if this assessment by TPM is correct.

CIA's Goss Drawn Into Hooker Probe?
By Justin Rood - April 27, 2006, 7:23 PM

Ken Silverstein reports at Harper's blog on the spreading Cunningham-Wade-Wilkes prostitute scandal. He says more lawmakers, past and present, are being investigated. Sounds like he thinks House Intel Chair-turned-CIA Director Porter Goss is one of them:

I've learned from a highly-connected source that those under intense scrutiny by the FBI are current and former lawmakers on Defense and Intelligence comittees -- including one person who now holds a powerful intelligence post.

Yowzah.

12. It's so intriguing...
that the media are coming up with every rationalization they can find for this "personnel change" - heavy work load ("It's hard work!"), discontent at the agency, too much politicization (they got that right), it was a time of transition, blah, blah, blase blah. As if any Bush agency head ever resigned over "discontent".

Uh, folks, we all know it's the hookers...

Things are going wrong at Foggo Bottom.

LMAO LMAO CNN's Carol Lin is hinting and dancing around the issue!

So, it's clear she knows what's up. She's asking Bob Barr, "I'm wondering if possibly, maybe, he resigned because of something that's coming up, another big story. Congressman?"

Hilarious. Absolutely hilarious.

Bob Barr did chime in that he's heard the rumors, but can't imagine Goss is involved. Umm, Bob, I'm pretty sure Goss' resignation tells you all you need to know.

Ahhh, they just called in John Roberts, who seems to have the HookerGate scoop. Very interesting. :-)

18. Yeah, they've taken Congress's place as mushrooms
kept in the dark and fed nothing but bull shit.

They're useless, as is ANYONE who has held elected office for more than a decade. Once they get submerged in that inside the beltway culture, they're lost to the rest of the country. We simply don't exist any more, except they have to spend money to go through the motions on election day and as Arbitron numbers they don't have to pay much attention to 'cause they're the only game in town.

We can't do much about the terminally baffled Washington press corps. What we can do is get rid of the current crop of bullshitters and try to find some who don't know how to lie, cheat and steal quite as well.

19. They're finally hinting around at the rumors.
It took them awhile to find a reporter who actually had a clue, I guess.

Your comparison of Congress and the WH Press Corps to mushrooms is absolutely perfect. :-)

29. "...get rid of the current crop of bullshitters ..."
Excellent point. I have a little trouble viewing the MSM and especially the Washington "press corps" as either "worthless" or "useless," since they have been extremely useful to the Bush Cartel and GOP for some years now. Reminds me so much of Pravda in the "good old days" of the U.S.S.R. Mouthpiece and wholly owned subsidiary of the ruling unelected elite.

One thing coming of all the shit rolling downhill lately: perhaps a lot of those currently in major "news reporting" positions will be shown to be SO clueless as the scandals continue to unfold and they reveal nothing except their own deceit, maybe, just maybe most Americans will realize they can't trust those talking heads. Perhaps our citizenry will demand more of those who purportedly bring them important news.

Got to admit, I don't have high hopes this will happen, but as I see it, the ONLY way things are going to really change in this country is if the population demands change insistently and loudly. With the polls showing Americans have even lower approval for Congress than for the pResident, and now with the "news media" demonstrating their deceit and shortcomings for all to see, I'm thinking there's at least a possibility that Joe and Jane Citizen will speak out before it's too late.

Nora O'Donnell mentioned the poker parties, but said that Porter denies going to Poker Parties, but admits that Foggo did? I believe I got that correctly. Now talking about minuses of his reign, the Friday dump of the information. All in all, they are covering it pretty well.

Now that Goss has resigned, I guess the press corps decided they can let the cat out of the bag, as it were. Followers, all of them.

TPMMuckraker and Harpers were all over this story weeks ago.

Damn, what an interesting little Friday this is shaping up to be.
