I will vote for the candidate who promises these 5 things:
1. ACCOUNTABILITY

Fully transparent Congressional investigations of 9-11, the Iraq war, lobbying scandals, tax cuts, corporate crimes, torture, price fixing, intelligence leaks, influence peddling, government contract abuse, the medicare plan, social security, all Federal laws and amendments since 2000, Katrina, electronic voting machines, abuse of Constitutional powers, media and energy trusts, environmental regulations and other government malfeasances over the past six years.

Those found accountable should ALL be held accountable; Those who are guilty of crimes, prosecuted. Those who are not qualified for their lofty positions, fired. Laws that hurt average Americans, changed. Decisions made against the public interest, reversed. Everything that has been broken can be fixed. Justice and truth must prevail in America.

2. ENERGY/EDUCATION

Focus on science, technology and American ingenuity to create energy independence through a policy that puts Americans to work, saves the environment, improves our educational system, and ultimately, our future. Create a NEW New Deal for energy. Retrain and employ American workers in respectable-wage jobs. Concentrate on math, science and language studies in public schools. Encourage new business in vocational and adult education. Guarantee full college for all military service.

3. SECURITY

Make port security a priority. Work with our allies to promote worldwide peace, fair trade, security and environmental stability. Promote and enforce safe and legal immigration laws. Immediately ask the the UN to assist in Iraq. Bring all National Guard and Reserve home from the Middle East to protect America. Maintain a strong, well-equipped military, but exercise power through diplomacy, not arrogance.

4. HEALTH CARE
Change our Federal spending habits to start saving people instead of killing them, i.e. Health care vs. Defense. Develop a national health program for all Americans. Encourage and promote new advances in medicine including stem cells and nanotechnology. Make health and humanity the message. Who could oppose that position? We could pay for it by raising taxes on junk food, alcohol and cigarettes and other non-medicinal drugs.

5. MAKE AMERICA PROUD AGAIN

5. Me, three
I don't care if the ballot says CLOWN, Bozo (D)...as long as I see that D, that's where my vote goes. We need to take back the country, and then worry about the details. Without power, we can do nothing.

4. Why aren't they saying it RIGHT NOW?!
Are things just not that bad?
The Democrats should be talking nonstop. Period.

6. Naaah, they need to GET OUT OF THE WAY, while the GOP blows
itself up. Articulating positions too vociferously can raise the hackles of the rabid right base. We need to get them so depressed, they just stay home, while keeping our crew motivated.

YMMV, but that's my take.

live long enough to feel safe and comfortable voting for a Republican.

I am and have been an Independent - I started out willing to vote for the best person. I still call myself an Independent, but I can promise myself that I will never vote for a Republican until there are long, continuous years of normal humanistic pattern of good coming from these criminals. There has to be a continuous record of clean agendas, toleranance - all matching the profile of true leadership that was ingrained in me as a child.
