The way to USE this story, DUers: Hookergate is STANDARD BIZNESS for GOPs
Edited on Fri May-05-06 03:08 PM by blm
and their business buddies.

Don't make the mistake of thinking this is aberrant behavior. This is a standard practice of behavior of the business elite and their political cronies and the last half-century just put the practice into overdrive.

I have told you for years now about high priced callgirls from LA flying to Houston to entertain the Enron guys and their pals throughout the 80s and early 90s. Alot of money and coke were involved.

Andy and others posted about the practice of male escorts hidden in these deals.

The sooner we say that this scandal TYPIFIES Republican behavior the sooner we get to define their party as the immoral, corrupting hypocrites they are.

Don't let them get away with acting as if this NOT typical - it IS. And even those Republicans who did not partake in the practice, still knew it was going on and looked the other way for DECADES.

Ask a callgirl - Dems are quick and cheap. Repubs spend alot of money and alot of TIME and their corporate pals have DEEP pockets that you just don't see shared with Dems. Not even in the same ballpark.

And Dems aren't the ones hiding behind flags and crosses and the religious right while they're getting their rocks off.

27. I think it's because Dems are in a hurry to get back to work - GOPs want
government to NOT work - so they don't care how much time they spend and how much money is wasted. It's the bottom line to who they are - wasteful and destructive.

11. just remember what we're dealing with NOW
an out of control militarist regime which has hijacked us to a decades of imperialism in the Middle East and beyond, driven in a great part by the band of military industrial warriors in and out of the administration. Goss was drawn into the bunch and was apparently compromised by the culture of corruption that surrounds that party.

Sure, there are Democrats who exercise poor judgement, and there are those who are tainted by the money game which perpetuates their positions of power and influence.

But, this round is the republican cronies against America. They're the ones who are in the position to screw tha country with their muckraking, manipulations, and militarism. They are the party who has demonstrated utter disregard for the law in their determination to subvert democracy for their ambitions for greed and dominance.

This round features the republican cronies against America. Pull up a seat. Enjoy the match.

21. Just read all of this article and several more over at Indymedia
Edited on Fri May-05-06 05:28 PM by vickitulsa
and finally I'm recalling these stories. As you indicated -- and several of those reporting at the time warned -- this whole sex ring scandal was never investigated fully, so it's understandable that I had trouble remembering it, I figure.

Turned out then that at least one "powerful" Republican was determined to block the investigation, so I guess he succeeded. And to think of the way Ray-gun was so glorified, especially upon his death, when he set the gold standard for corruption in power in this country!

However, in following links from those articles, I came upon this posted by a Salon blogger in 2003:

~~~~~
Politically the sleeping giant of America appears to be waking up slowly to the deceptions and lies of an Administration with a neo conservative agenda.
Richard Miles sent me this wonderful analogy as to where we are, as a nation, today:
At the outset of WWII, Admiral Yamamoto told the Japanese High Command, "If we bomb Pearl Harbor, we must be prepared to win this war in no more than 6 months."
They asked why. He said, "Because we will have awakened the sleeping giant."
America is again a sleeping giant, this time lulled to sleep by a deliberate effort on the part of its government. However, it is a fitful and restless sleep, and we are about to awaken again.
Allen L Roland, Ph.D
Daily weblog: http://blogs.salon.com/0002255/
~~~~~

From that fitful and restless sleep in 2003 which still allowed most Americans to ignore the hard realities, I think we may have progressed as a nation to what is now a "sudden" awakening, as scandal after scandal exposes the GOP and the Bush Cartel government for what they really are.

I just hope our people don't simply take a very BIG sleeping pill because it's all too painful to acknowledge, and go back to sleep to let come what may.

Oh, and btw, you should click on the link for Dr. Roland's blog to see another "scandalous" story he posted today. Taken from The Times of London, it's the third story down on today's blog and the headline reads:

"IN THE CHAOS OF IRAQ, ONE PROJECT IS ON TARGET: A GIANT U.S. EMBASSY"

I might start a separate thread about this story if I can figure out how to do that properly. Certainly is a story worth sharing!

17. The only difference between now and what happened in the past is...

that the Republicans in power have pissed off too many career officials in the CIA, FBI, Dep. of Justice, etc. whose help are needed to keep this kind of stuff hidden from public view.

23. I agree about their having pissed off too many career officials in the CIA
FBI, Dept. of Justice, etc., but I also feel they have simply woven a tangled web of lies which by now is so huge and convoluted they are simply tripping over their own words (and deeds) every time they turn around. Witness Rummy's stammering yesterday as he was confronted with his own direct quotes, for instance.

One thing that constantly niggles in the back of my mind lately as the jig seems to be up for these crooks and liars is, surely they knew that a web of lies cannot inevitably sustain an illusion. The truth was almost certain to come out, at least enough to put some of their "big fishes" into the headlines in disgrace, which would in turn only lead to the opposition smelling the blood and following the scent to expose more and more lies and scandals.

So my question is, WHY did they take it so far? Or better yet, if they anticipated this day finally coming, WHAT DID THEY PLAN as a way to extricate themselves from the grasp of the mobs of angry citizens coming after them with torches and pitchforks?

Metaphorically speaking, of course, about the pitchforks, but you know what I mean. People ARE angry, and getting angrier by the minute. I think we can see that anger propelling investigations into an ever growing chain of stories of corruption, even though the so-called "news" media sold out to the Bush Cartel long ago. Yet they are publishing and airing these scandal stories. Are those in the blogosphere really powerful enough to compel the MSM, in spite of their neo-con/corporate agenda, to report real news?

24. The bad part of this is knowing this crew would step to ANY level if they
were about to lose power. I can easily see them stage an "attack" by an Iranian Al Qaeda group. They wouldn't care how many died, as long as they killed enough to declare Martial Law.
