I'm surprized at you people
CIA director Porter Goss resigns - and no one links this to Negreponte?

I'm not saying this isn't good news - but I'm not buying the feeding frenzy on "hookergate".
Negreponte has allot of duties now that the old CIA director position had.
Negreponte asked him to leave.

I don't trust Negreponte as far as I can throw him - and I think the turmoil we see in Iraq today is a direct result of Negreponte and the El Salvador option - in full play.

I'm just saying........:eyes:

2. My opinion is that when someone suddenly resigns with no notice
it's scandal-related; i.e., pending charges and so forth.

If he was being pushed out, it would be the old, "As of July 1(or whatever), I will be stepping down to spend more time with the family" sort of announcement.

3. If that had something to do with it..

...Goss would have given a few days or weeks notice before his resignation took effect.

Even if they really, really wanted him out of there now, they would have just put him on vacation until his effective resignation date.

But he announced his resignation takes effect IMMEDIATELY, and one of the news stations even said the Pentagon had expected him for an afternoon briefing.. That's not something that was planned.

It almost has to be a scandal.

Possible I guess, but I have trouble buying anything Russert is trying to sell.

6. I don't agree. Goss was all the way in the muck with Negroponte.
Goss was Operation 40 back in the Bay of Pigs days with Poppy. Negroponte and Goss have been blood-brothers in the shadow government over the years.

Nah, I think this is because of Duke Cunningham.

7. I do bet he wants to be top dog now and has sort of moved in.
From what I have read he has sort of gone up in the eyes of the power people. Bush and his side kick. I get a feeling that if you come from out side of gov. and in the money your more in with this group. Goss is out of Congress.

8. Just mentioned this myself in another thread.
I think it's Negroponte as well. If anything, he's more dangerous than Goss and he doesn't like to share control with others. I'm not sure I buy the hookergate angle either, just yet.
