outraged.

Politics of oil: Cheney visits Kazakhstan
U.S. eyes huge resources, also notes country’s weak human rights record
The Associated Press
Updated: 12:38 p.m. ET May 5, 2006

ASTANA, Kazakhstan - Vice President Dick Cheney traveled to Kazakhstan on Friday for talks with President Nursultan Nazarbayev, seeking to maximize access to the vast oil and gas reserves in the central Asian nation with a troubled human-rights record.
The two men met privately more than an hour, far longer than the few minutes that had been expected to precede a larger meeting of delegations.

There was no word on what they discussed in their private talks.
They sat down in a year-old presidential palace, part of a new capital that has been rising for nearly a decade. Signs of economic development were seemingly everywhere — more than two dozen towering construction cranes were visible in the distance from the steps outside the palace.

Cheney’s schedule included a dinner with his host, with horsemeat cold cuts, a local delicacy, on the menu.

At a press conference with Nazarbayev, Cheney said Iran should follow Kazakhstan’s example and abandon its nuclear program — noting that Kazakhstan had removed the inventory of Soviet nuclear weapons on its territory after it became independent. More…..

So it looks like we are making more deals with nations and regimes that make Saddam's regime look like Santa Claus. So why aren't there any plans to invade Kazakhstan with the same "bad, bad man" excuses that BushCo invaded Iraq with? I don't believe for a minute that they are giving up their nukes.

I wonder if Cheney was allowed to shoot the horse before he ate it?

the Bush crime family gets a hundred billion and we get screwed--as do the people of Khazakstan. That's the way it works out for the best.

8. Sure he was
That's why their private meeting was so long. The oil is for the formal delegations to discuss, evil incarnate was getting torture tips in the private meeting.

10. Cozying up to Kazakhstan makes perfect sense
If you're following the strategy of The Grand Chessboard by Zbigniew Brzezinski. Uzbekistan should be next, unless we have them under control via CIA.

Kazakhstan is the shield and Uzbekistan is the soul for the region's diverse national awakenings

they have a very unusual menu with things that are naturally "aged" or fermented. It is
one of those places where a cast iron stomach helps.
