Interesting take on Goss Exit via FDL
Color me confused. Everyone on TV seems to be buying the line that the Goss resignation has been planned for weeks. No natural curiosity about the fact that it takes effect immediately, or that there is no replacement, or that he had a meeting scheduled this afternoon he didn’t show up for. Not to mention the fact that as Professor Foland pointed out in the comments, the White House would’ve probably sacrificed its collective left nut to avoid stepping on a drunk Kennedy story.

I hadn't thought about that but yeah - makes sense. Ooooh this is gettin' good! The house of cards IS tumbling down.

7. Nah. I doubt he has any idea what's going on. They just make him
think he's making the decisions. Kinda like how I tell my nephew NOT to eat my veggies so that he does.

4. A friend of mine mentioned Goss stepping in to

take over/push out Katherine Harris, and run in her place.

I haven't seen any data that proves that, just saying is all.

5. here's another from TPM
Sources: Foggo Was A Problem, But Not the Only One
Foggo was a problem for Goss, sure, but he wasn't the only problem, I'm told. There were a few, and they got to be too much.

There's been a drumbeat for the past few weeks that Goss would be leaving -- and it was louder than the Goss-is-leaving drumbeat folks have heard for the past year, two sources said. The crescendo came in part because several of his close aides have found ways to leave the director's office in the last few weeks, or put out feelers to find something new. "The whole group was out fishing" for new jobs, a former CIA official told me, "and the whole world knew it."

Other problems added to his trouble: Two sources told me that the President's discreet and influential Foreign Intelligence Advisory Board has been interviewing CIA officials and others over the past several weeks, as part of a larger investigation. My sources didn't know or wouldn't tell me what the panel was examining, only that "a lot" of the people it talked to "were unloading on the director."

8. question is - why today when they had the Kennedy story
plus they didn't have a replacement. Seems outside of their well manicured photo-op ready events.
