take a step back and try to understand how a true "Independent" would view this story.

I have my own biases, many of um. And I live up to my screen name. However, we are trying to recruit people who vote Independent into our ranks, we must try to understand that many people will ignore what a nice man Patrick is (some have informed me) and go straight to the wealthy "white mans' dynastic privilege" stance. I sure as shit know that I did ... and I was pissed as hell he was in the headlines.

I'm only providing the suggestion that Patrick Kennedy, at least in his professional life, is in BIG TROUBLE ... and JUST perhaps, rightly so. Some kind person in another thread informed me that he really is a gem of a person. That's cool. But we must be honest with ourselves and not give into defending the indefensible. MANY people told me words to the effect of the above about my personal representative herione, Cynthia McKinney. I fought them tooth and nail because I could see her doing NO wrong. If some of us can consider this advice with relation to Cynthia McKinney who we truly admire, perhaps those who hold this man in high esteem can also be gently persuaded to face reality?

That said, he is doing the right thing by seeking rehab.

His, like McKinney's, is just a story of someone doing something stupid when they KNEW better.
